Business area Mining is a global leading supplier of equipment and tools, parts, service, digital solutions and sustainability-driving technologies for the mining and construction industries. Applications include rock drilling, rock cutting, loading and hauling, tunneling and quarrying. Key Responsibilities: The Area Manager, Surface Drills Western USA is responsible for developing and maintaining Sandvik’s distributor business across the assigned territory to deliver profitable growth, strengthen the distribution network, identify distributor and customer needs, and increase profitable market share. This role serves as a trusted business partner to distributors and internal stakeholders, building winning sales strategies, driving disciplined execution, and ensuring strong alignment between distributor activity, CRM opportunity management, and Sandvik’s business targets. Demonstrate safety leadership at Sandvik sites and customer locations, ensuring reasonable steps are taken to provide a safe and healthy working environment. Act as a Safety Champion for internal and external sites where the team is present, supporting compliance with safety management programs. Create and execute distributor business plans that maximize profitable growth and support performance management for the Surface Drills business. Develop and strengthen distributor relationships into constructive, profitable business partnerships. Understand Sandvik’s market position in the assigned area, identify opportunities, and establish winning strategies and action plans for internal and external sales teams. Proactively offer valuable solutions that contribute to distributor and end-customer success, positioning Sandvik as the preferred partner over competitors. Develop innovative sales strategies to increase sales within the assigned territory and support implementation of product and portfolio strategies. Identify gaps in sales strategy, create solutions for low-penetration markets, and build sustainability plans to retain sales in areas with established market share. Champion the use of CRM tools, maintain an accurate opportunity pipeline, and provide routine sales forecasts and budgets. Achieve agreed targets for sales volume, distributor satisfaction, annual goals, NPS, and expense management. Provide product expertise and support to distributor sales representatives and internal partners during the sales and development process. Drive rigor and discipline in distributor meeting preparation, post-meeting reviews, and follow-through on agreed actions. Collaborate with all of the relevant divisions to ensure strong alignment within Sales Area USA. Stay current on industry developments, competitive offerings, and issues affecting sales, distributors, and customers. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required. Minimum 10 years of OEM sales experience in the mining or construction segment, or a combination of sales and operational experience in the industry. Preferred Qualifications: Leadership, ownership, and accountability for job responsibilities. Strong sales management skills, business acumen, and diplomacy. Proficient business development skills with an entrepreneurial mindset. Advanced accountability, networking, and relationship management skills. Experience managing in a matrix environment and working as part of an integrated, broad team. Flexible and self-motivated with demonstrated initiative. In-depth understanding of customer business and operational processes. Superior customer relations, communication, time management, and organizational skills. Good computer skills and willingness to learn. High level of drive and determination to achieve targets and customer satisfaction goals. Location: Western USA territory, Sandvik location Travel Requirements / shift / hours: Willingness to travel up to 60-70 % of the time Compensation Range: $135,000 to $155,000 Work authorization Must have the legal right to work in the United States on an indefinite basis without employer sponsorship.
