Job Description: We are seeking a Technical Staff (Communication Systems) Design Engineer to lead and contribute to the design, modeling, and implementation of physical-layer algorithms for wireless products. This role combines strong individual technical contribution with cross-functional technical leadership, supporting wireless solutions from concept through production. The engineer will work closely with global teams across RF/Analog, Digital, Software, Validation, and Program Management in a collaborative environment. Key Responsibilities Contribute to the architecture, design, and implementation of communication system and PHY modem algorithms Support system-level trade-off studies, performance analysis, and algorithm selection for low-power wireless products Translate product and system requirements into clear technical specifications for RF, digital, software, and validation teams Provide technical guidance and collaborate across disciplines to ensure system intent is preserved through implementation Develop and validate system models, fixed-point models, and hardware-aware algorithm implementations Support test chip and SoC bring-up, including lab debugging, root-cause analysis, and performance optimization Contribute to production readiness by supporting characterization, validation, and issue resolution for wireless SoC products Requirements/Qualifications: Educational Background Ph.D in related field. with 8+ years or MS with 12+ years of experience in communication systems Technical Background Strong foundation in communication theory and signal processing Hands-on experience with Matlab, Python and C/C++ for algorithm development and system simulation Solid understanding of fixed-point modeling, cycle-accurate simulation, and hardware-aware design Practical lab experience with communication system testing and silicon bring-up Proven experience driving the end-to-end design of wireless communication systems Technical Leadership and Collaboration Experience leading technical execution across multiple stages of product development Ability to influence and coordinate across disciplines and geographies without direct reporting authority Strong communication skills, capable of translating complex technical concepts to executive and non-technical audiences Ability to balance hands-on technical execution with system-level architecture and planning Preferred qualifications — the following qualifications are highly desired: Experience with algorithms and physical layer of UWB systems, radar systems, or other wireless standards Experience supporting wireless SoC production, characterization, and post-silicon issue resolution Ability to review and guide RTL-level implementations to ensure alignment with system intent Travel Time: 0% - 25% Physical Attributes: Feeling, Handling, Hearing, Other, Reaching, Seeing, Talking, Works Alone, Works Around Others Physical Requirements: 80% sitting, 10% standing, 10% walking, 100% inside. Pay Range: We offer a total compensation package that ranks among the best in the industry. It consists of competitive base pay, restricted stock units, and quarterly bonus payments.
