Job Description: The Packaging Engineering Compliance Supervisor is responsible for leading compliance documentation and data management activities that support the Packaging Engineering team. This role is primarily task-focused, with accountability for executing and overseeing the collection, validation, tracking, and maintenance of packaging compliance data and documentation to meet regulatory and business requirements. In addition, the role includes limited people leadership responsibilities to coordinate daily team activities, monitor workload, and support team performance. Key responsibilities include managing compliance initiatives related to PPWR, UK RAM, and other applicable packaging regulations and reporting requirements. The supervisor will coordinate supplier outreach, monitor supplier responses, and ensure compliance-related data submissions are complete, accurate, and submitted on time. This role is also responsible for tracking progress, identifying missing or incomplete information, escalating issues as needed, and driving closure of data gaps. In addition, this position will oversee the review, update, and cleansing of packaging data in PLM and related systems as new or revised information becomes available. The supervisor will work closely with Packaging Engineering, suppliers, and cross-functional partners to improve data quality, maintain documentation accuracy, and support ongoing compliance efforts. From a people leadership perspective, this role will provide day-to-day direction to team members, help prioritize work, and support consistent execution of team objectives. Key Responsibilities Compliance and Operational Responsibilities Lead day-to-day compliance documentation activities for the Packaging Engineering team Support regulatory reporting and data requirements, including PPWR, UK RAM, and other packaging-related regulations Coordinate supplier outreach to request compliance-related packaging data and documentation Track supplier responses and follow up to ensure timely completion of required submissions Review, validate, and organize submitted compliance information for completeness, accuracy, and consistency Identify, monitor, and drive closure of packaging data gaps in PLM and other tracking tools Coordinate data cleansing and updates of existing packaging records as new information is collected Maintain trackers, reports, dashboards, and status updates for compliance documentation progress Support data analysis and reporting to monitor compliance status, completion rates, and key issues Partner with Packaging Engineers and cross-functional stakeholders to resolve documentation, system, and data quality issues Escalate compliance risks, delays, or recurring issues to leadership as appropriate Support process improvements to enhance data accuracy, documentation efficiency, and reporting effectiveness Team Leadership Responsibilities Provide day-to-day work direction and task coordination for team members supporting packaging compliance activities Assign and prioritize work to ensure deadlines and business requirements are met Monitor team progress and provide follow-up to maintain execution quality and timeliness Support onboarding and training of new team members Coach team members on documentation processes, data quality expectations, and follow-up practices Serve as a first point of contact for routine questions, issue resolution, and work coordination within the team Support people manager activities such as performance input, workload planning, and identification of development needs Promote collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the team ​ Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Packaging, Supply Chain, Business, Data Management, or a related field Experience in data analysis, documentation management, compliance operations, or related work Experience coordinating work or providing day-to-day guidance to others in a team environment Strong Excel skills, including data organization, formulas, sorting, filtering, lookup functions, and basic reporting Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling data and documentation Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities across several workstreams Good follow-up, problem-solving, and issue-tracking skills Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work effectively with suppliers and cross-functional teams Experience working with PLM, SAP, or similar systems is an advantage Background in packaging, regulatory compliance, or product data management is preferred Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting packaging compliance or regulatory data collection Familiarity with packaging-related regulations such as PPWR, UK RAM, or similar requirements Experience in data cleansing, gap analysis, and documentation tracking Ability to analyze data trends and provide clear status reporting Prior experience in a lead, coordinator, or supervisor-level role Experience driving process improvement in documentation or compliance-related workflows Learn more about 3M’s creative solutions to the world’s problems at www.3M.com or on Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn @3M.
