The PositionWe have an exciting new opportunity for an Automation Expert to join our Diagnostics R&D Instrumentation team. In this role, you will be the driving force behind our transition to a fully automated, scalable platforms. You will not just manage servers; you will own the vision for our Infrastructure as Code deployment pipelines and mentor other engineers scaling up their automation skills. Collaborating closely with our team, you will standardize our hosting environment, build modern observability stacks, and explore pioneering AI/ML opportunities to optimize predictive platform maintenance and operational efficiencies. Your responsibilities Include: Lead & execute Automation Strategy: Own, architect, and scale robust IaC pipelines to standardize our global environments. Engineer advanced tooling for metrics, reporting, and observability. Provide users and leadership with crystal-clear visibility into system performance and platform usage statistics. Research and execute AI/ML opportunities within our hosting ecosystem - such as automated log anomaly detection, proactive outage resolution, and predictive capacity scaling for heavy R&D workloads. Collaboration and Requirements Gathering: Partner with business stakeholders to gather and document detailed requirements (use cases, epics, user stories, etc.) and manage this input in the product backlog. Work with technical teams and product vendors to understand existing and intended system functionalities and capabilities, as well as data migration needs. Facilitate meetings to ensure a comprehensive understanding of business needs and technical capabilities. Project Management and Integration: Drive the prototyping phase, connecting all stakeholders and key actors to provide a proof of concept. Drive the integration process, transitioning from former solution to future solution. Define user stories with acceptance criteria and definition of done, documentation, and other relevant artifacts to ensure clear requirements communication. Cross-functional Team Coordination: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business, product management, and development, to ensure alignment and successful integration Act as the technical mentor for team members transitioning into automation roles, fostering a strong DevOps culture and establishing modern engineering best practices. We are looking for a passionate, automation-first leader who thrives on building scalable infrastructure platforms. Bachelor's degree in computer science, systems analysis, or a related study 5+ years of hands-on experience in DevOps, System Engineering, or Infrastructure Automation within complex enterprise hosting ecosystems Expert-level knowledge of IaC tools, specifically Ansible and Terraform. The AI / Innovation Mindset: A strong technical curiosity and awareness of how AI tools, data models, or automated scripts can be applied to optimize system logging, monitoring, and infrastructure configuration. Excellent communication, leadership, and collaboration skills to work effectively in an Agile (Scrum/Kanban) framework Nice-to-Have Skills Experience within life sciences, diagnostics, medical devices, healthcare, or another regulated environment. Experience with requirements management, CAD, PLM, engineering systems, or R&D instrumentation environments. Experience integrating test automation approaches with enterprise workflows, CI/CD pipelines, or quality management processes. Experience supporting automation harmonisation or standardisation across teams.
