Discover Impactful Work As a Sales Engineer Gauging within the Production Process & Analytics (PPA) business unit of the Chemical Analysis Division (CAD) at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you will play a key role in driving commercial success across our Quality Control Systems portfolio. You will be responsible for developing new business opportunities while growing existing customer relationships across assigned industrial markets and territory. Reporting to the Global Commercial Leader, you will execute strategic sales initiatives, identify opportunities for market expansion, and deliver value-driven solutions that help customers improve their manufacturing processes. Your technical expertise, consultative selling approach, and ability to build lasting customer partnerships will be essential in achieving sales objectives and supporting the continued growth and profitability of the business. A Day in the Life: Achieve assigned bookings, revenue and profitability targets. Develop and execute territory sales plans to identify and secure new business opportunities. Manage the complete sales cycle from prospecting and qualification through quotation, negotiation and closing. Identify AI-enabled solutions and digital services to support business growth and deliver measurable customer value. Maintain an accurate sales forecast and opportunity pipeline using Salesforce.com. Collaborate with partners and representatives to support commercial growth. Provide valuable market intelligence by monitoring market trends, competitive activities and customer-specific requirements. Develop trusted relationships with existing and prospective customers. Analyze customer production processes and recommend technical solutions that improve quality, productivity and operational efficiency. Engage customers with AI-enabled discussions and commercial solutions. Deliver outstanding customer experience through responsiveness, technical expertise and solution-oriented support. Demonstrate and present the technical capabilities and business value of Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Quality Control Systems. Collaborate closely with application specialists, service engineers, software experts and product management to develop customer-specific solutions. Maintain a high level of product, application, industry and AI knowledge to effectively position our solutions. Travel throughout the assigned territory and internationally as required, with approximately 50% overnight travel. What to expect: Drive sales growth by achieving commercial targets across the assigned territory. Identify and develop new business opportunities while expanding existing customer relationships. Lead complex technical sales engagements from prospecting through contract negotiation and closing. Deliver consultative, value-based sales solutions tailored to customer manufacturing processes. Work cross-functionally with technical experts, service teams and product management. Utilize Salesforce.com to manage opportunities, forecasting and customer engagement. Monitor market trends and competitive activities to support strategic business growth. Represent Thermo Fisher Scientific through regular customer visits and extensive travel. Keys to Success: Education Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, or another relevant technical discipline, or equivalent technical experience. Experience Minimum of 3 years of successful technical sales experience in capital equipment, industrial instrumentation, process analytics or industrial automation. Proven experience selling complex technical solutions to manufacturing customers. Experience within one or more of the following industries is highly desirable:Metal Packaging & Converting Battery Manufacturing Experience working with distributors or channel partners is desirable. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Strong consultative selling and negotiation skills with a customer-focused mindset. Excellent presentation and communication skills for both technical and business audiences. Ability to understand complex manufacturing processes and translate them into customer-focused technical solutions. Understanding of AI and digital technologies as emerging commercial enablers within industrial markets. Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently. Experience using CRM systems (Salesforce.com preferred) together with digital sales and collaboration tools. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Fluency in German and English (written and spoken). Additional language skills are an advantage. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel extensively.
