Position Summary To operate, maintain, and troubleshoot clean and raw utilities used for the operation of the Marietta Vaccine Facility and supporting infrastructure. Position will require employees to work in a rotational On-call schedule. This schedule will include holidays and weekends; overtime may be required. Position may require working on other tasks (as assigned by management or as needed) outside the Utilities function, independently or with other crafts as needed. Responsibilities This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career. These responsibilities include some of the following: Able to follow directions, handle basic repairs, and complete daily assignments with minimal supervision. Execute more complex projects and diagnose problems working alongside more senior technician. Develop utility skills through OJT, by executing assignments with more senior technicians, and by completing formal GSK training. Assure all documentation (logbooks, permits, work orders) is complete and accurate. Stay current with all required GSK site, EHS, Regulatory and Global training. Adhere to safety procedures, safe work practices, and GSK standards. Progression requirement of this role is to have the skills to progress in two years. Operate, maintain, and repair Utilities systems, including Boilers, Fire Suppression systems, RO/DI Skids, WFI stills, Potable Water distribution systems, Steam & Condensate distribution & return, Oil-Free Process Air systems, Water Softeners, Ozone Generators, Clean Steam Generators, and other Utilities equipment. Complete scheduled planned maintenance and work orders weekly, ensuring adherence to CMMS metrics. Repair and maintain utility piping, quality water generation equipment, boilers, water filtration systems, steam, and compressed air networks. Ensure all utilities systems are maintained in compliance with EHS, GMP, and GSK standards. Monitor systems daily, record data, and ensure housekeeping and cleanliness of all utility areas (routine GEMBA). Manage and request spare parts via CMMS, communicate material requirements and shortages to management. Perform emergency and routine maintenance based on departmental priorities and emergency situations. Maintain equipment, tools, logbooks, PPE, and documentation in a safe, calibrated, and GMP-compliant condition. Report abnormal incidents, near misses, and quality issues promptly to relevant stakeholders. Participate in training programs to enhance skills and maintain up-to-date training compliance metrics. Basic Qualification We are seeking professionals with the following required skills and qualifications to help us achieve our goals: High School diploma or equivalent, Trade School graduate, Military, or Vocational-Technical school training. 1+ years' experience as a Mechanical technician in an industrial environment Experience working on Quality process and Utilities Systems. Basic computer skills (Microsoft Suite, Outlook, Intranet, etc.) Ability to troubleshoot and a general mechanical aptitude. Ability to work rotating shifts and participate in an on-call rotation. Physical Requirement Physical requirements include stooping, standing, climbing and frequent lifting of a maximum of 50 lbs. of equipment (pumps, tools, ladders); the ability to safely install rigging/lifting devices; the ability to work around loud equipment, on elevated work surfaces, in confined spaces and in inclement weather. Preferred Qualification If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus: Associate degree, trade school certificate, military training, or technical license (millwright, electrician, boiler operator). Good verbal and written communication skills. Previous experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Work Order Systems (CMMS) preferred. Demonstrated familiarity and compliance with cGxP, GSK EHS procedures/policies, facility regulatory guidelines, and local site SOP’s. Experience with high-purity water systems, clean utilities, or cGMP environments. Familiarity with SCADA, HMI, PLCs, VFDs, or computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS/SAP). Boiler license or willingness to obtain within a defined timeframe. Experience supervising contractors, executing shutdowns, or supporting capital projects. Strong written and verbal communication skills and a focus on teamwork and continuous improvement. Experience working in a regulated manufacturing or industrial environment. Previous experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Work Order Systems (CMMS) preferred. Troubleshoot and correct problems with equipment; Escalate critical concerns to N+1 in a timely manner. Ability to interpret electrical wiring diagrams, BAS architecture, HMI controls, and engineering drawings. Ability to follow written procedures and document results in an ALCOA and GxP-compliant manner. Must have demonstrated self-directed work habits and effective communication skills.
