Position Summary The Senior Director, Chief of Staff serves as a strategic advisor, operational leader, and execution partner to the Senior Vice President, Global Business Unit. The role is accountable for driving strategic alignment, governance, execution excellence, organizational effectiveness, and enterprise-wide coordination across the Global Business Unit. The incumbent leads the development and execution of operating mechanisms that translate business strategies into measurable outcomes while ensuring alignment with enterprise objectives. The role acts as a central integrator across site Strategy & Operations organizations, Quality, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Finance, Human Resources, Digital, Technical Operations, and other key business functions to ensure effective decision-making and flawless execution. This position is responsible for establishing governance frameworks, leading strategic planning activities, driving risk identification and mitigation processes, overseeing performance management systems, and ensuring operational excellence across complex global initiatives. The Senior Director, Chief of Staff must ensure that activities supporting GMP-regulated operations are conducted in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, Quality Management System (QMS) standards, data integrity principles, company policies, and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs). The incumbent must comply with all Security, Environmental Health & Safety, Privacy, and Compliance requirements applicable to the position. Location(s)New Jersey (New Brunswick, Lawrenceville, Giralda Farms) or Massachusetts (Devens), USA; Dublin, Ireland; Boudry, Switzerland Key Responsibilities Strategic Direction & Business Execution Partner with the SVP, Global Business Unit to define, communicate, and execute strategic priorities aligned with enterprise objectives. Lead development of annual business plans, long-range strategies, organizational priorities, and execution roadmaps. Translate strategic objectives into measurable deliverables, governance processes, and accountability. Support executive decision-making through analytics, business insights, scenario planning, and strategic recommendations. Drive strategic alignment across leadership teams to ensure effective prioritization of resources, investments, and organizational initiatives. Lead preparation of executive reviews, business updates, leadership presentations, and Board-ready materials as required. Cross-Functional Leadership & Multi-Site CoordinationPartner with Site Strategy & Operations leaders to align strategic priorities, coordinate execution activities, and ensure consistency across locations. Lead and influence cross-functional teams responsible for enterprise initiatives, transformation programs, productivity efforts, and business-critical deliverables. Coordinate complex, multi-site responsibilities and drive resolution of cross-functional issues impacting business objectives. Facilitate collaboration among Quality, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Finance, Human Resources, Digital, Engineering, and Technical Operations organizations. Establish operating mechanisms that improve accountability, visibility, and execution effectiveness across the Global Business Unit. Governance, Risk Management & Organizational PerformanceDevelop and maintain governance processes supporting business execution, operational reviews, strategic programs, and leadership decision-making. Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), metrics, dashboards, and management reporting systems. Manage strategic business reviews and performance assessments to ensure achievement of organizational goals. Develop and implement proactive risk management strategies, including identification, assessment, mitigation, escalation, and monitoring of risks. Lead issue resolution, contingency planning, and business continuity activities supporting critical business operations. Ensure governance practices align with internal controls, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies. Operational Excellence & Continuous ImprovementDrive continuous improvement initiatives focused on organizational effectiveness, process simplification, and execution excellence. Implement best-in-class operational practices to improve efficiency, productivity, resource utilization, and business performance. Establish data-driven decision-making frameworks that support objective assessment of operational and strategic performance. Use performance metrics and analytics to identify improvement opportunities and corrective actions. Promote a culture of accountability, transparency, operational discipline, and continuous learning. Digital Transformation, AI & InnovationServe as a business leader for digital transformation and innovation initiatives across the Global Business Unit. Identify opportunities to leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI), automation, advanced analytics, and emerging technologies to improve productivity and business outcomes. Evaluate digital solutions and develop strategic implementation roadmaps. Partner with Enterprise Digital, Data Science, and Technology organizations to scale innovative capabilities. Promote adoption of AI-enabled decision support tools, predictive analytics, and digital workflow solutions. Ensure implementation of digital initiatives complies with cybersecurity, data governance, privacy, and quality requirements. Organizational Effectiveness & Executive Support Act as a trusted advisor to the SVP and leadership team, providing strategic counsel, operational guidance, and execution support. Facilitate leadership team effectiveness through governance, prioritization, communication planning, and action management. Drive goal-setting processes, organizational planning activities, and strategic alignment sessions. Support enterprise transformation activities through structured change management, stakeholder engagement, and communication strategies. Develop executive communications, leadership messaging, organizational updates, and business narratives. Compliance & Quality ManagementEnsure activities are executed in accordance with company policies, quality standards, regulatory requirements, and applicable procedures. Support inspection readiness and audit preparedness activities where applicable. Ensure quality risk management principles are integrated into decision-making and operational planning. Maintain documentation, governance records, performance tracking systems, and business controls in accordance with established standards. Qualifications & Experience RequiredBachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Life Sciences, Finance, or related disciplines. Minimum fifteen (15) years of progressive leadership experience within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, or other highly regulated industries.
