HR Project Manager, Strategic Projects
AMD · Austin, Texas
Job description
ADVANCE YOUR CAREER. ADVANCE THE WORLD. At AMD, we believe technology can change lives for the better. It can heal us, entertain us, and make us more connected, productive, and understanding of the world around us. And we’re looking for talent who feel the same: people who want to leave the planet better than they found it, those who don’t shy away from humanity’s challenges but are determined to help solve them. AMD is powering the next generation of supercomputing, high-performance computing, cloud, and AI. Whether you’re designing next-gen processors, enabling AI breakthroughs, or creating go-to-market plans, every role at AMD contributes to something bigger — technology that moves the world forward. THE ROLE: AMD HR is seeking an experienced HR project leader to drive high-impact strategic initiatives that advance enterprise priorities, accelerate operational transformation, and support mergers and acquisitions integration. In this highly visible role, you will partner across HR and business teams to define priorities, structure execution plans, and deliver scalable process, system, and operating model improvements that strengthen organizational effectiveness. You will play a critical role in leading HR integration activities from pre-close planning through Day 1 readiness and post-close stabilization, helping acquired employees transition seamlessly into AMD’s HR ecosystem. This position offers broad exposure to senior HR and business leaders, providing the opportunity to influence enterprise-wide outcomes while shaping the future of HR operations, transformation, and growth at AMD. THE PERSON: You are a strategic and consultative HR professional who thrives in complex, fast-paced environments and can translate ambiguity into clear, actionable plans. You bring strong business acumen, structured problem-solving skills, and a passion for driving meaningful change across global organizations. You excel at building trusted partnerships, aligning stakeholders around shared objectives, and influencing outcomes without direct authority. With strong executive presence and communication skills, you can confidently synthesize complex information, anticipate risks, and provide leadership teams with clear recommendations and decision-ready insights. You are collaborative, adaptable, and energized by opportunities to drive transformation, continuous improvement, and successful integration outcomes. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Partner with HR and business stakeholders to assess complex business challenges, align cross-functional priorities, and develop scalable recommendations that enable successful execution of strategic HR initiatives and M&A integrations. Lead the planning and execution of HR strategic programs, including governance, project planning, change management, milestone tracking, and outcome measurement. Drive cross-functional process improvement initiatives that simplify operations, strengthen controls, and identify opportunities for automation, system enhancements, and AI-enabled ways of working. Lead global HR system enhancement programs that improve employee and manager experiences while supporting scalable business growth. Manage HR integration activities for mergers and acquisitions, coordinating across HR workstream leaders, HR business partners, and key stakeholders throughout the integration lifecycle. Oversee critical integration milestones, including pre-close planning, Day 1 readiness, HR systems, policies, processes, and post-close stabilization activities. Partner with HR and M&A leadership teams to identify risks, dependencies, and integration priorities while driving successful execution of strategic objectives. Prepare and deliver concise, executive-ready communications that provide visibility into program progress, risks, decisions, milestones, and business outcomes. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Experience leading global HR programs, strategic initiatives, transformation efforts, and organizational change management. Background in HR Centers of Excellence (COE), HR Business Partner (HRBP), HR Shared Services, or enterprise HR operations environments. Experience supporting HR mergers and acquisitions integration activities, including pre-close planning, Day 1 readiness, post-close execution, and stabilization. Strong business acumen with the ability to quickly understand new business models, organizational structures, and HR environments. Experience leading large-scale global projects and driving stakeholder adoption through effective change management practices. Demonstrated ability to build relationships, collaborate across functions, and influence stakeholders in a global matrixed organization. Proven project management expertise, including the ability to prioritize effectively, structure complex challenges, and drive disciplined execution. Experience working within multicultural, cross-functional, and globally distributed teams. Experience facilitating process improvement workshops and translating recommendations into sustainable business outcomes. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and AI-enabled tools to develop executive communications, project updates, and decision-support materials. ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field, or equivalent experience preferred. Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Organizational Leadership, or a related discipline is considered an advantage. #LI-SD1 #LI-Hybrid Benefits offered are described: AMD benefits at a glance .
