Work Schedule Standard (Mon-Fri) Environmental Conditions Able to lift 40 lbs. without assistance, Cleanroom: no hair products, jewelry, makeup, nail polish, perfume, exposed piercings, facial hair etc... allowed, Some degree of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) required (safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, ear plugs etc.) Job Description As a Field Service Engineer II within the Materials & Structural Analysis (MSD) Division at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you will play a key role in delivering world-class service and support for advanced analytical and scientific instrumentation. You will partner with customers across the semiconductor, academic research, and industrial materials sectors to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair sophisticated equipment while ensuring an outstanding customer experience. This role provides the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies that enable scientific discovery, innovation, and manufacturing excellence. Key Responsibilities Install, commission, maintain, and repair advanced analytical and scientific instruments at customer sites. Diagnose and resolve complex electrical, mechanical, vacuum, and software-related issues to maximize instrument uptime. Perform preventive maintenance and corrective service in accordance with company quality and safety standards. Provide technical support and training to customers on instrument operation and best practices. Accurately document service activities using service management systems. Collaborate with internal teams to resolve technical issues and improve customer satisfaction. Respond promptly to customer service requests, including urgent support when required. Maintain a high level of professionalism while representing Thermo Fisher Scientific at customer sites. Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in Engineering or a related technical field with no prior experience, or Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field with at least two years of hands-on experience installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing complex analytical or scientific instruments. Preferred Qualifications Degree in Electrica/ Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical discipline. Experience servicing analytical instrumentation, electron microscopy, semiconductor equipment, or similar high-technology systems. Knowledge of ultra-high vacuum (UHV) systems and high-voltage equipment. Relevant professional certifications (e.g., government-recognized labor safety certification, English language proficiency certification, or other technical certifications). Additional Requirements Valid driver's license and willingness to travel frequently between multiple customer locations. Ability to lift and move equipment or system components weighing up to 40 kg, with appropriate lifting assistance and in accordance with safety guidelines. Willingness to work in cleanroom, laboratory, manufacturing, and industrial environments as required.
