Meet the Team As the Security Foundations Engineering team within the Splunk Core Platform organization, we own foundational platform security components that enable secure management of secrets, auditing, cryptography, and compliance capabilities across the Splunk product portfolio in a manner consistent with internal and external security standards, industry best practices, and rigorous compliance requirements. We are a team of 10+ engineers operating in a fast-paced, high-velocity environment and using innovative technologies. Our customers are internal engineering teams within Splunk as well as end customers, and we support use cases that are critical to keeping Splunk’s SaaS and On-Prem offerings secure, compliant, and functional. We build and operate a fleet of cloud-based, highly available Splunk platform security services running across multiple geographical regions on AWS, Azure, and GCP. Your Impact Lead the design, development, and evolution of core security components and platform capabilities using C++ and Go, delivering secure, reliable, and scalable functionality. Deliver complex features, enhancements, fixes, and automation from design through production with a high degree of ownership, autonomy and technical judgment. Write clean, maintainable, and secure code backed by strong unit and integration test coverage to improve product quality, reliability, and compliance. Drive the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of cloud services, strengthening availability, resiliency, observability, performance, and operational excellence at scale. Participate in or lead 24/7 on-call rotations, incident response, root cause analysis, and follow-through on durable corrective and preventive improvements. Collaborate cross-functionally with senior engineers, product management, support, and engineering partners to improve system behaviour, deliver customer value, and expand ownership across broader technical domains. Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and continuous learning. Contribute to strategic decisions across core engineering initiatives and the evolution of systems architecture. Minimum Qualifications Bachelors + 7 years or Masters + 4 years of related experience in software engineering or a related field, Extensive experience designing, building, delivering, and maintaining production-grade software in C++ and/or Go, with deep expertise in software design, debugging, testing, and secure coding practices. Strong understanding of Unix/Linux systems, shell scripting, networking, distributed systems, cloud technologies, and cybersecurity fundamentals. Proven ability to lead complex technical projects, drive execution in ambiguous areas, and coordinate work across engineers with different levels of experience. Experience operating and maintaining production services, including participation in 24/7 on-call rotations, incident response, and reliability or operational improvement efforts. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose complex technical issues methodically and learn unfamiliar parts of large systems. Experience adopting and applying GenAI tools across software engineering workflows. Preferred Qualifications Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure across GCP, AWS, or Azure, including advanced DevOps practices and Site Reliability Engineering. Proficiency in containerization technologies and container orchestration with Kubernetes. Experience with infrastructure-as-code automation tools such as Terraform and CI/CD pipeline management. Solid understanding of cybersecurity concepts, including secrets management, auditing, cryptography, and compliance, with practical experience using the HashiCorp ecosystem and cloud-native security services. Experience with observability, monitoring, and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and Splunk. Proven leadership in driving technical strategy, mentoring engineers, and influencing cross-team initiatives.
