The PositionPharma Global Technical Operations (PT) is the organization that manufactures and delivers Roche’s groundbreaking therapies to 127 million patients around the world. PT is involved in producing every Roche medicine – from the development process through clinical trials – and continuing to product maturity. Our organization coordinates all aspects of production of Roche medicines in all disease areas and dosage forms. Pharma Technical Development (PTD) is integral to Roche’s mission to develop innovative and transformative meaningful medicines for patients by applying leading technical expertise to design, develop, supply, and register clinical stage products globally. The department Pharmaceutical Development is responsible for the development of parenteral drug products (Synthetic molecules and Biologics) from Phase 1 through Launch. Activities encompass formulation and manufacturing process development for parenteral drug products for all clinical stages and the market launch, the transfer of product and process to commercial manufacturing sites, commercial product support and line extension development. The OpportunityIn this specific position as a Section Leader in Pharmaceutical Development EU, you will be part of the leadership team and lead a team of about 8 people, mostly scientists. You will be accountable for parenteral formulation development for all phases of product development, from preclinical to launch and marketed product support. Lead & Empower a High-Performing Team: Direct, coach, and develop a team of approximately 8 scientists, fostering a growth-oriented, high-performing environment built on trust and continuous learning. Oversee End-to-End Parenteral Formulation: Provide strategic technical oversight for the formulation development of protein-based biologics, synthetic parenterals, and gene therapies from preclinical stages through launch and commercial product support. Drive Portfolio Resource Allocation & Prioritization: Manage project timelines, prioritize key initiatives, and optimize resource allocation across all clinical stages to ensure seamless portfolio delivery. Champion Lean Principles & LPS: Embed Lean Production System (LPS) principles and lean behaviors into daily operations to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence. Manage Regulatory Strategy & Filings: Guide the generation, review, and strategic alignment of regulatory submission documents ranging from IMPD to BLA and PAS. Shape Global Technical Strategy: Contribute to the overarching strategic vision of the Drug Product Development units across EU and US sites, ensuring global alignment and long-term department success. Serve as Functional Representative: Act as a key ambassador for the function in global stakeholder interactions, promoting agility, harmonization, and an innovation-first mindset. Foster Scientific Innovation: Advance research in novel pharmaceutical technologies, keeping the group at the forefront of industry developments to sustain Roche’s scientific leadership. Who You AreEducated Expert: Holds a Ph.D. in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline (or equivalent industry experience) combined with 8+ years of biopharmaceutical experience. Parenteral & Regulatory Specialist: Demonstrates deep technical expertise in parenteral formulation development, end-to-end pharmaceutical development, and Health Authority filing requirements. Proven People Leader: Features 5+ years of direct people management experience with a track record of coaching, recruiting top talent, and building high-performing scientific teams. Modern Leadership Champion: Embraces VACC leadership principles (Visionary, Architect, Catalyst, Coach), collective leadership concepts, and LEAN methodologies. Strategic Project & Change Manager: Brings demonstrated experience managing global cross-functional projects, driving change initiatives, and solving complex strategic challenges (device experience is a plus). Enterprise & Collaborative Mindset: Shows a strong commitment to enterprise-wide thinking, network talent utilization, and cross-functional partnership across the global Roche network. Strong Communicator: Possesses exceptional interpersonal and communication skills in fluent English, enabling effective collaboration across multi-disciplinary teams and senior leadership levels.
