Accenture is looking for a dynamic Media Relations Manager to support our work in the Health & Public Services industry for the USA market. As a Media Relations Manager, you will contribute to the strategy, execution and coordination of a comprehensive media relations program for Accenture’s Public Service business. This individual will also support other industry sectors within the Industry and Enterprise practice. This role reports into the Global Media Relations Lead for Accenture’s Public Service industry group and is part of Accenture’s Corporate Communications function. The Media Relations Manager is responsible for promoting and protecting the brand. It includes both generating top tier media coverage in influential business and key industry trade publications in support of business priorities of these industries, as well as mitigating potential negative coverage. It would involve a particular focus on helping to shape messaging about how these industries should bring digital innovation to transform their business and reimagine the services and experiences they bring to their customers as they continue to navigate disruption and change. You would be responsible for helping to craft stories that articulate how organizations can prepare to overcome challenges and harness opportunities by illustrating the power of embracing the wider ecosystem and collaborating beyond industry lines to find new ways of innovating and reinventing for the future. Further responsibilities include protecting the reputation of Accenture’s Public Service business through effective issues and crisis management. This individual will work closely with the Public Service Industries marketing and business leaders as well as collaborate with national, industry, business and global media relations colleagues to leverage content for relevant stories. Additionally, this role is responsible for helping to execute an executive positioning program for select Public Service senior leaders, by primarily leveraging media relations, speaking engagements and strategic partnerships. While there will never be a typical day at Accenture, here’s a look at some of your responsibilities: Implement an earned media strategy for Public Service, working in synch with the marketing team to develop themes and messaging that align with the marketing teams’ plans as well as overall industry trends and major events. This includes managing an editorial calendar for thought leadership launches, regular byline contributions, client and third-party announcements, and navigating potential internal news conflicts. Contribute to timely issues management counsel and strategy, including monitoring emerging risks, assessing potential reputational impact, and coordinating response plans with business, legal, government relations and communications stakeholders. Help drive executive positioning platforms leveraging subject matter experts. Drive the content pipeline for media relations on client stories, research and thought leadership. Collaborate with cross-functional team to craft proactive media outreach/briefing initiatives surrounding key industry events. Monitor the competitive landscape for media mentions and share of voice, applying this knowledge to improve Accenture’s overall position in the industry. Conduct and analyze market/competitor/influencer research as input to positioning and external marketing and communications plans. Manage and develop professional working relationships with key journalists and client peers. Work with industry marketing & communications team to create and execute effective social media initiatives for public service industry executives. Ensure that industry media relations initiatives are consistent with strategic business objectives for Accenture. Job requirement: Ability to travel approximately 10%. Basic Qualifications: Minimum of 7 years of experience in corporate media relations, in-house or agency Minimum of 5 years of experience in media issues or crisis management Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree Experience in the health and public services industry Strong relationships with industry business and trade press/media influencers covering the public service space. Experience at building strong working relationship and providing strategic counsel to senior leadership. Able to leverage social media to augment and amplify media relations program. Broad based business acumen and ability to quickly grasp Accenture’s business strategy. Global perspective and understanding of business marketplace; quick thinking with an inquisitive nature and desire to learn about economic and business drives, the technology ecosystem and all aspects of Accenture’s business. Demonstrated ability to provide strategic support and counsel; issues management experience a plus. Professional Skills Requirements: Natural storyteller with ability to connect Accenture capabilities to industry news. Demonstrated knowledge and ability for media measurement tools, tactics and capabilities. Able to partner with and influence executives at all levels of the organization through relationship building and executive-level presence. Exceptionally detail oriented yet equally flexible and agile. Comfortable with ambiguity. Proven ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines. Ability to be flexible and work analytically in a problem-solving environment. Innovative/creative problem-solving skills. Ability to work autonomously and independently yet integrate and collaborate with other areas within Marketing & Communications and other areas within Accenture. Compensation at Accenture varies depending on a wide array of factors, which may include but are not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience.
