Work Schedule Standard (Mon-Fri) Environmental Conditions Office Job Description As part of the Thermo Fisher Scientific team, you'll discover meaningful work that makes a positive impact on a global scale. Join our colleagues in bringing our Mission to life every single day to enable our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer. We provide our global teams with the resources needed to achieve individual career goals while helping to take science a step beyond by developing solutions for some of the world's toughest challenges, like protecting the environment, making sure our food is safe or helping find cures for cancer The Position This position is available in the DAIV System Team, a centralized DevOps and software infrastructure team based in Bangalore and supporting multiple software product development teams across the EMEA region. These teams develop desktop and web applications for data management, image processing, and visualization workflows. The DAIV System Team provides CI/CD infrastructure, software lifecycle management, developer tooling, AI enablement, and cybersecurity support across the software development lifecycle. As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will deliver and improve CI/CD, software lifecycle management, developer tooling, AI enablement, and cybersecurity capabilities for desktop and web product teams. You will combine hands-on implementation with ownership of complex improvements and provide technical support and guidance to other engineers. How You Will Make an Impact You will help software teams deliver reliable, secure products faster by improving pipelines, build and deployment infrastructure, automation, and release processes. You will reduce operational friction through reusable solutions, effective troubleshooting, lifecycle planning, and practical adoption of AI-assisted engineering tools. You will collaborate with product development teams and technical leads to implement improvements that work across different technology stacks. In This Role You Will Design, implement, maintain, and troubleshoot CI/CD pipelines and shared DevOps infrastructure for desktop and web software products. Support product teams with build, test, packaging, deployment, release, and software lifecycle management activities. Develop reusable automation, pipeline components, scripts, and technical documentation that improve consistency across teams. Own complex technical improvements from analysis and design through implementation, rollout, and operational support. Support GitHub or GitLab repositories, runners or agents, artifact management, access patterns, and related developer tooling. Contribute to secure SDLC practices through automated code, dependency, container, and secrets scanning, vulnerability remediation, and software supply chain controls. Perform root cause analysis for recurring build, pipeline, deployment, environment, and release failures and implement durable corrective actions. Plan and execute upgrades, migrations, and deprecation activities for development tools, operating systems, build environments, containers, and platform components. Use approved AI-assisted engineering tools to accelerate development, testing, documentation, troubleshooting, and automation, and help teams adopt effective practices. Collaborate with DevOps Leads, software engineers, architects, cybersecurity specialists, and product stakeholders to define and prioritize improvements. Support and guide less-experienced engineers through reviews, pairing, troubleshooting, and knowledge sharing. Participate in Agile planning, operational reviews, and continuous improvement activities. The Candidate The ideal candidate is an experienced, hands-on DevOps or software engineer who can work independently on complex delivery problems, collaborate across product teams, and translate technical needs into robust automation. Besides that, you have: Bachelor's or master's degree with 6 to 10 years of DevOps industry experience. Preferred fields of study: Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field. Strong hands-on experience with Git and GitHub or GitLab, including CI/CD pipeline design and troubleshooting, runners or agents, scripting, reusable pipeline components, and artifact or package management. Strong proficiency with Python, Docker, and Linux, together with relevant experience supporting .NET software delivery workflows. Significant hands-on expertise in at least one application track: desktop delivery using CMake, C++/Qt, PowerShell, and Windows build environments; or web delivery using Kubernetes, Helm, Rancher, and containerized .NET or Python applications. Experience with automated testing, root cause analysis, build and deployment automation, release engineering, and systematic troubleshooting of complex delivery failures. Experience with secure SDLC automation, including code, dependency, container, and secrets scanning, vulnerability remediation, and software supply chain controls. Experience planning and executing upgrades, migrations, patching, and deprecation activities across development tools, operating systems, build environments, containers, and platform components. Practical experience using approved generative AI or coding-agent capabilities to improve software development and DevOps workflows is beneficial. Ability to understand complex technical requirements, take ownership of technical outcomes, and implement maintainable solutions independently. Demonstrated ability to support less-experienced engineers through reviews, pairing, troubleshooting, and knowledge sharing. Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate in cross-functional, distributed teams. Strong written and verbal English communication skills. Experience with Agile development methodologies; SAFe experience is beneficial. Ability to travel occasionally, approximately 5-10%, for collaboration with global teams.
