This position is available in the DAIV System Team, a centralized DevOps and software infrastructure team based in Bangalore and supporting multiple software product development teams across the EMEA region. These teams develop desktop and web applications for data management, image processing, and visualization workflows. The DAIV System Team provides CI/CD infrastructure, software lifecycle management, developer tooling, AI enablement, and cybersecurity support across the software development lifecycle. As the DevOps Lead - Web Applications, you will provide technical leadership for the containerized platforms, CI/CD capabilities, and operational practices used by our web application teams. You will define scalable, secure approaches for building and delivering .NET- and Python-based services on Kubernetes platforms while remaining hands-on in the implementation and support of critical solutions. How You Will Make an Impact You will improve deployment consistency, platform reliability, and delivery speed by establishing reusable capabilities for containerized web applications. You will guide platform architecture and lifecycle decisions, strengthen the software supply chain, and enable development teams to operate services effectively. You will work closely with software engineers, architects, product teams, cybersecurity specialists, and other DevOps engineers in a distributed, international organization. In This Role You Will - Provide technical leadership for DevOps practices, architecture, and tooling supporting web application development and delivery. - Define and evolve the technical roadmap for container build, continuous integration, deployment, environment management, and platform operations. - Design, implement, and maintain reusable GitHub or GitLab CI/CD templates, shared automation, and central developer tooling. - Lead the engineering of Docker-based build and runtime patterns for .NET and Python services. Design and support Kubernetes deployment models using Helm and Rancher, including configuration, upgrades, access controls, and operational standards. - Establish secure software supply chain and platform practices, including image scanning, dependency governance, secrets protection, least-privilege access, software bills of materials, and artifact integrity where applicable. - Define observability, reliability, and troubleshooting practices for web platforms, pipelines, and deployment environments. - Drive lifecycle management activities such as Kubernetes and Rancher upgrades, base image maintenance, component migrations, and deprecation plans. - Lead complex troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions for pipelines, containers, deployments, and platform incidents. - Identify and operationalize appropriate AI-assisted development and DevOps capabilities to improve engineering productivity while meeting security and compliance expectations. - Create engineering standards, technical documentation, reference implementations, and enablement material for product teams. - Coach and support DevOps and software engineers through design reviews, technical guidance, and knowledge sharing. The ideal candidate is a hands-on Staff-level engineer with deep web platform and container expertise, strong architectural judgment, and a track record of improving engineering practices across multiple teams. Besides that, you have: - Bachelor's or master's degree with 10 to 12 years of DevOps industry experience including proven technical leadership engineering or DevOps experience, including proven technical leadership. - Preferred fields of study: Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field. - Advanced experience designing, operating, and improving CI/CD and deployment infrastructure for commercial web applications. - Strong proficiency with Git and GitHub or GitLab, including pipeline architecture, reusable CI/CD components, runners or agents, and artifact and container registry management. - Strong hands-on expertise with Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Linux, and Rancher or a comparable Kubernetes management platform. - Proficiency supporting .NET and Python application build, test, packaging, and deployment workflows. Deep understanding of container orchestration, configuration and environment automation, observability, reliability engineering, automated testing, and release management. - Strong knowledge of secure platform and software supply chain practices, including image and dependency scanning, secrets management, role-based access control, least privilege, software bills of materials, artifact integrity, and vulnerability remediation. - Experience defining platform architectures and technical roadmaps and leading Kubernetes, Rancher, base image, and other platform lifecycle upgrades or migrations. - Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS is preferred. - Experience supporting and guiding engineers, defining cross-team standards, conducting technical reviews, and leading technical change without relying on direct authority. - Strong problem-solving, root cause analysis, and incident management skills for complex pipeline, container, deployment, and platform issues. - Clear written and verbal English communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a distributed, multicultural environment. - Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies and modern software engineering practices. - Self-motivated, pragmatic, quality-oriented, and able to work independently while guiding teams effectively. - Ability to travel occasionally for collaboration with global teams, potentially up to 15%.
