The Ireland ÄKTA and Chromatography Specialist is responsible for growing the lab-scale ÄKTA and chromatography business in the territory, delivering local training and application support and developing close relationships with customers, enabling you and the local commercial team to identify growth opportunities for Cytiva and Danaher. This position reports to the ÄKTA sales manager and is part of the UK and Ireland protein research commercial team and will work remotely to cover the Ireland sales territory. What you will do: Working hands-on with Cytiva’s range of lab-scale ÄKTA chromatography systems, you will apply your expertise to academic and industry customers in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. A significant part of your time will be spent with biotech and biopharma companies near Dublin, Cork, Limerick and Belfast supporting experimental design and purification workflows. You will be part of a close team of chromatography specialists and use your commercial and technical skills to support customers solve real-world protein purification challenges and generate business. Your daily work will be varied, including planning customer visits, conducting activities to generate new sales leads, managing customer projects (working with customer service, field-service engineers and logistics companies), running product demonstrations, running training and practical workshops, answering customer questions, delivering seminars and webinars, and attending promotional events. You will manage sales leads and prospects using the Salesforce Lightning CRM and analyse sales data to aid decision making. With support from your manager, you will be empowered to manage your territory, set priorities, and create a business plan. You will work to understand your customers’ needs and build strong, long-term business partnerships. You will be encouraged to develop your career, supported with training, coaching and development opportunities. Who you are: You should have a strong life science or biotechnology background and be experienced in protein chromatography. A university-level degree in a life science–related discipline is essential. PhD or equivalent experience is highly desirable. No previous commercial experience is required since full training will be provided, but a serious interest in a commercial role is expected. A strong understanding of protein chromatography is essential, along with a minimum of 3 years’ hands-on experience with ÄKTA systems. Experience with ÄKTA pure, ÄKTA avant, ÄKTA go and/or ÄKTA pilot instruments is highly desirable. The role comes with a company car. You should be able to travel and work on-site with customers 3-4 days per week. You should have a customer-centric attitude, able to balance the needs of the customer and Cytiva. Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements: 80% travel (typically 3-4 days travel per week). Most travel will occur within the sales territory. Travel outside of the territory is expected for meetings that include the regional team or to visit Cytiva show sites and training facilities (UK, Sweden and Germany sites). This travel frequency is quarterly on average. Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record. It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in: Writing or contributing to grant applications or capital expenditure (CapEx) funding requests. Ordering capital equipment, in particular having an understanding of the public tendering process. Experience organising, facilitating or contributing to the running of exhibitions or events.
