JOB DESCRIPTION:About the Role The Statutory Accountant will join Abbott's EMEA Statutory Reporting Centre of Excellence (COE), supporting statutory accounting and reporting activities across multiple EMEA legal entities. The successful candidate will ensure accurate and compliant financial reporting while supporting audit, regulatory, and financial compliance requirements. This role offers exposure to multinational financial reporting, technical accounting, IFRS and local GAAP compliance, and collaboration with finance teams across Europe. Due to the continued growth and expansion of our EMEA operations, Abbott is establishing a Statutory Reporting Centre of Excellence to centralise and enhance statutory reporting, compliance, and financial governance activities across the region. Key Responsibilities Prepare statutory financial statements and supporting disclosures for EMEA legal entities. Ensure compliance with IFRS, local GAAP, and regulatory requirements. Support statutory audits and respond to auditor requests. Prepare technical accounting documentation and accounting position papers. Perform financial statement analysis and variance reviews. Maintain and reconcile local statutory ledgers. Support SOX and internal control requirements. Partner with finance, tax, treasury, legal, and external audit teams. Support continuous improvement and automation initiatives. Act as a key user of OneSource statutory reporting software. Monitoring accounting/regulatory standard changes Posting IFRS/local GAAP adjustments and US GAAP vs IFRS reconciliation Support Audit query resolution Support process to ensure SOX, Corporate accounting policy and control compliance Qualifications & Experience Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA, CPA or CIMA). 3+ years' experience within statutory reporting, audit, financial accounting or compliance. Strong understanding of USGAAP, IFRS and financial reporting principles. Experience in multinational or shared service environments preferred. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Experience with SAP and OneSource is highly desirable. Additional European language skills, particularly German or Italian, are advantageous.
