This position owns assigned tests from setup through teardown and produces organized data summaries that support engineering decisions. The role also supports product investigations that cannot be fully resolved by Manufacturing, Quality, or Production. The Technician II isolates variables related to hardware, electrical/electronic, mechanical, fluidic, or system integration behavior and escalates issues as needed to the appropriate engineering teams with supporting evidence. The successful candidate will operate with minimal day-to-day instruction with work reviewed at completion and/or project milestones. Job duties will be predominantly equipment testing and product troubleshooting, with additional involvement in new product development projects for process development and prototype assembly support.Product Testing & Verification Independently execute test qualification and verification protocols of low to moderate complexity. Own assigned test sequences from setup, configuration, run, teardown, data storage, and summary reporting. Identify deviations or unexpected behavior and provide complete evidence to support disposition. Recommend improvements to protocol clarity, setup repeatability, and execution efficiency. Support retesting activities, issue reproduction, and regression testing as directed by engineering. Product Troubleshooting & First-Pass RCA Perform structured first-pass troubleshooting for product and subsystem issues. Isolate variables related to mechanical, electrical/electronic, hardware, fluidic, optical, and system integration behavior. Differentiate between setup, equipment, assembly, component, and product-level contributors where possible. Escalate suspected firmware or software contributions to EE/SW teams with clear evidence, reproduction steps, and test conditions. Support investigations of product issues that cannot be resolved through routine Manufacturing, Quality, or Production troubleshooting. Manufacturing, Quality & Production Support Conduct additional testing and evidence collection for pilot, production, or released-product issues when escalated to R&D. Document findings in a manner that manufacturing staff can repeat in future investigations. Support creation of repeatable troubleshooting steps and inspection guidance. Provide practical feedback to improve assembly instructions, test procedures, and product handling practices. Laboratory Operations & Equipment Readiness Manage assigned tooling, fixtures, accessories, and lab equipment inventory records. Maintain visibility of equipment status, location, availability, and uptime for project testing needs. Support check-in/check-out control for high-value shared equipment. Work with Quality to understand calibration impacts and ensure calibrated tooling is available when needed. Identify upcoming shortages, conflicts, or equipment constraints and communicate risks to project stakeholders. Process Development & Documentation Create and revise assembly work instructions, test procedures, and troubleshooting guidance under engineering review. Assist with process development for prototype, pilot, and production builds. Document observations that improve repeatability, manufacturability, and test consistency. Technical coursework in engineering technology, electronics, instrumentation, mechanical systems, automation, or related discipline preferred. Experience 2-5 years of relevant product testing, laboratory, engineering technician, manufacturing support, instrumentation, or electromechanical experience. Demonstrated ability to execute standard protocols independently and summarize technical results. Skills & Competencies Strong hands-on troubleshooting skills for mechanical and electrical/electronic hardware. Ability to interpret drawings, schematics, work instructions, and test protocols. Working knowledge of laboratory instrumentation, fixtures, and development of test methods.
