Strategy, Portfolio & Operations (SPO) is a unified function that serves as the strategic and operational backbone enabling pRED's strategy from lab to clinic. Operating under a dynamic Chapter Model, SPO centralizes specialized skills across critical areas including Sites & Lab Services, Program & Project Management, Strategy, Clinical Operations, External Operations, Capability Development, Core Lab Technology Platforms (360Labs) and Asset Team Leadership. SPO’s mission is to drive enterprise value creation by delivering operational excellence, and accelerating portfolio productivity. As a trusted partner, SPO fosters a culture of collaboration and accountability to ensure pRED transitions assets smoothly from early research to late stage development. The Opportunity The Strategy & Portfolio (S&P) chapter acts as pRED’s strategic "engine room". The Chapter provides strategic consulting across internal and cross-Roche initiatives, using systems thinking to connect different areas of the business. Additionally, we design and manage critical governance boards while maintaining the organization's "single source of truth" data systems. This data is used to generate portfolio analytics and reports, root cause analyses, and pipeline projections for leadership. Ultimately, our core mission is to shape the future of the business and enable data-driven, high-quality decisions that optimize efficiency and drive overall portfolio productivity. We are offering an outstanding opportunity to support and augment the ongoing strategy activities within the Strategy and Portfolio Chapter (S&P) of SPO. This is a unique opportunity to join a high-impact group, working with multidisciplinary teams and acting as an independent and objective thought-partner to senior stakeholders on a range of business and strategic questions related to the overall direction and long-term strategy of pRED. In this position, your responsibilities will include: Supporting the ongoing dialogue of the pRED strategy. Translate strategy into guidance for decision making at the pRED Leadership Team (pLT), and within the Disease Translational Areas or Global Functions (GFx).. Support senior pRED leadership (pLT and/or DTA / GFx LTs) and enhance decision making, specifically focusing on clarifying the right problem statement. Evolve the strategic priorities and initiatives to meet the holistic needs across pRED and establish a pRED-wide perspective on the portfolio strategy and priorities. Facilitate and lead communication efforts to ensure pRED wide understanding of strategy and portfolio context and be an ambassador and challenger for the portfolio voice across pRED. Facilitate an integrative and continuous dialogue across the pRED value chain to evaluate our strategy and implementation for the 3-5 year horizon and support leadership to navigate the portfolio to impact the Pharma vision. Consistently seek to evolve the strategic pRED wide perspective, external landscape evaluation for assets & technologies within Roche core DTAs and innovation assessment outside existing core diseases in close collaboration with Roche partnering. Supporting the ongoing efforts to evolve the pRED portfolio to meet the pharma ambition. Coordinate and lead strategic projects on behalf of and across pRED, connecting across the value chain and externally, to shape the future portfolio and contribute to the Pharma ambition. Who you Are Your extensive professional experience allows you to expertly lead and coordinate complex strategic topics. You are knowledgeable in drug discovery and portfolio strategy. You thrive in a dynamic, inclusive environment that gives you full accountability for your own contributions and development. You have more than 7 years of experience (significant experience working at a senior level) in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry or management consultancy with an emphasis in portfolio/molecule development and an advanced business (MBA) and/or science degree (MSc or PhD). You have a track record of establishing successful internal and external partnerships with relevant partner organisations and are able to act as an ambassador for Roche.
