Role Overview The Staff Program Manager is a senior individual contributor who leads complex, cross-functional programs, ensuring strategic alignment between business objectives and execution. The role drives high-impact initiatives from concept through delivery by partnering with business leaders, product, engineering, operations, and other stakeholders to deliver programs on time, within scope, and aligned with organizational priorities. The Staff Program Manager leads the Product Commercialization Process (PCP)/New Product Development process through the phase-gate process, managing scope, schedule, risks, issues, trade-offs, communications, and stakeholder expectations. The role ensures adherence to product development best practices, design controls, and regulatory requirements while delivering high-quality products that meet agreed-upon schedule, budget, resource, scope, and long-term supportability objectives. Top of Form Bottom of Form Key Roles & Responsibilities Lead end-to-end execution of complex, cross-functional programs from customer engagement through product launch and program closure. Manage multiple concurrent programs of varying scope and complexity, ensuring delivery on schedule, within budget, and aligned with business objectives. Define program scope, objectives, success metrics, execution plans, and governance frameworks. Translate strategic priorities into executable programs, supporting leadership on prioritization, resource allocation, and trade-off decisions. Build, manage, and influence relationships with senior stakeholders, serving as the primary point of engagement to align expectations, facilitate decision-making, and drive program success. Drive program planning, execution tracking, risk management, issue resolution, and dependency management across projects. Serve as the primary liaison between cross-functional teams and senior leadership, providing clear program status, risks, insights, and recommendations. Lead cross-functional collaboration across Product Management, R&D, Engineering, Quality, Regulatory, Operations, Manufacturing, Service, Finance, Legal, and other stakeholders. Ensure compliance with product development processes, regulatory requirements, and organizational governance standards. Develop integrated program plans, facilitate core team meetings, monitor progress, and resolve execution gaps. Proactively identify, assess, mitigate, and escalate program risks and critical issues. Drive operational excellence by standardizing program management practices, improving execution efficiency, and tracking performance through metrics and dashboards. Capture, document, and communicate lessons learned to enable continuous improvement across programs. Requirements Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Life Sciences, Business, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred. 8+ years of product development experience in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, or Medical Devices; IVD and instrument/hardware integration experience preferred. 5+ years of program management experience leading complex cross-functional programs. Experience with phase-gate product development processes; Voice of Customer (VOC) experience preferred. PMP certification preferred; Agile certifications are an advantage. Proficiency in Microsoft Project and Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge, Skills & Competencies Demonstrated accountability and ability to influence and lead in complex matrix organizations. Strong knowledge of regulated product development processes, quality systems, and program management best practices. Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to lead without direct authority. Strong critical thinking, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with a data-driven approach. Ability to prioritize, manage ambiguity, balance strategic and detailed execution, and deliver results under tight timelines. Proven ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional, global, and culturally diverse teams. Additional Qualifications Understanding of KPIs, performance management systems, and strategic business metrics. Knowledge of market dynamics, customer workflows, business operations, and product lifecycle management. PPI (Practical Process Improvement) certification or experience preferred. Proficiency with program management tools (e.g., Jira, Smartsheet, MS Project, Asana). Familiarity with Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid project delivery methodologies.
