Job description

ADVANCE YOUR CAREER. ADVANCE THE WORLD. At AMD, we believe technology can change lives for the better. It can heal us, entertain us, and make us more connected, productive, and understanding of the world around us. And we’re looking for talent who feel the same: people who want to leave the planet better than they found it, those who don’t shy away from humanity’s challenges but are determined to help solve them. AMD is powering the next generation of supercomputing, high-performance computing, cloud, and AI. Whether you’re designing next-gen processors, enabling AI breakthroughs, or creating go-to-market plans, every role at AMD contributes to something bigger — technology that moves the world forward. THE ROLE: The person in the role of Technical Marketing Engineer for AMD-AECG is an adaptable and self-motivated individual who drives Vivado and next generation tool product roadmap to serve customer needs. This person is responsible for feature specification, validation, documentation, early training materials, sales enablement, and key customer support across a range of tool areas, with a primary focus on design flows, Tcl/scripting infrastructure, and IP services (IP Integrator, IP packaging, and IP catalog). Technical Marketing works closely with product planning, R&D, applications engineering and top-tier customers to improve the FPGA and Adaptive SoC design process and enable the next generation of designs and methodologies. The environment is fast moving, global and focused on emerging technologies. THE PERSON: The successful Technical Marketing Engineer has a critical role in defining, refining and supporting Vivado design flows, scripting infrastructure, and IP services. This person understands customer concerns, pain points, and strives to find the best solution. The ability to juggle competing priorities is essential. This person will work closely with senior Technical Marketing team members and will mentor junior engineers joining the team. We operate with an agentic AI-first mindset and expect team members to actively incorporate AI into how they work. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Enable sales with pre-sales support for new features and post-sales engagement to identify learning gaps and drive adoption. Provide technical expertise to the field and customers through the creation of training materials, tutorials, user guides, demos, videos, and example designs. Support planning in defining best-in-class development flows, features, and methodologies for AMD FPGA and Adaptive SoC hardware tools and libraries. Align with outbound team on collateral and messaging for tool areas of responsibility. Collaboration with engineering, sales, and customers to drive hardware tool features and ensure smooth launch of new devices. Communication of complex subjects to field and customers, making options, tradeoffs, and impacts clear. Evaluate field and customer feedback, identify key areas for new features/changes, and work with planning and engineering to resolve. Develop deep subject matter expertise in primary focus areas and serve as the go-to technical resource for field and customer escalations in those domains. Mentor junior Technical Marketing team members and contribute to team knowledge sharing. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Excellent working knowledge of FPGA design flows — from RTL entry through implementation and device programming. Strong Tcl scripting skills and experience automating EDA tool workflows or building custom design flow infrastructure. Working knowledge of IP integration concepts — IP Integrator, IP packaging, IP catalog management, or similar block-based design methodologies. Working knowledge of the entire FPGA or ASIC design process and tool flow. Experience in design analysis, experimentation, and methodology. Hands-on experience applying AI agents and copilots to drive EDA tools, automate engineering workflows, or solve complex technical problems. Ability to handle and solve complex system-level issues, internally and with top-tier customers. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, presentation skills, and the ability to work with worldwide teams. ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related equivalent with relevant experience; OR Master’s Degree with relevant experience; OR PhD with relevant experience. LOCATION: Belfast, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom (different location arrangements will not be considered for this role). #LI-HYBRID #LI-LC1 Benefits offered are described: AMD benefits at a glance .
