Job Purpose The Medical Affairs Manager COPD – Specialty & Respiratory is responsible for driving the medical strategy and execution for the COPD portfolio in BeLux, with a primary focus on specialty assets. The role provides high-quality medical and scientific insight to internal and external stakeholders, supports the development and implementation of local medical plans, and ensures compliant scientific engagement and communication in line with GSK policies, applicable laws, and industry codes of practice. The role is office-based and has no direct reports but works as an integral member of the BeLux Specialty & Respiratory Medical Affairs team in a cross-functional matrix environment. Key Responsibilities Medical strategy & planning (COPD portfolio – Specialty & Respiratory) Contribute to the development and local adaptation of medical affairs plans for COPD assets (specialty and respiratory), aligned with global and regional medical strategies and BeLux business priorities. Translate global evidence and medical strategy into locally relevant tactics and metrics to support optimal patient outcomes and access. Scientific engagement & external expert interaction Plan and execute compliant non-promotional medical activities (e.g. scientific exchange, consultancy, advisory boards, congress-related engagements) to generate insights on COPD care gaps, treatment pathways and patient profiles for specialty assets. Build and maintain strong relationships with relevant External Experts with support of MSLs (pulmonologists, respiratory specialists, key opinion leaders and peripheral ENTs where relevant to COPD), ensuring high scientific integrity in all engagements. Insight generation & evidence / access support Leverage the insights systematically gathered by the four MSLs from external stakeholders to synthesize and communicate key findings that inform local COPD medical strategy, evidence generation priorities and market access discussions for specialty assets. Medical governance & compliance (therapy-area level) Ensure all COPD-related medical activities and materials within scope follow GSK written standards, ABAC requirements and local regulations, including appropriate review and approval processes for non-promotional activities and scientific content. Actively contribute to local medical governance forums as required (e.g. Medical Governance Board / relevant committees), providing COPD-specific medical input and risk assessment. Cross-functional collaboration (office-based matrix role) Work closely with Commercial, Market Access, Regulatory, PV and other partners to ensure a coherent COPD medical strategy and aligned execution across specialty and respiratory portfolios in BeLux. Provide medical training and scientific support to internal teams (e.g. MSLs, brand teams, customer-facing colleagues) on COPD disease, data, guidelines and product positioning, ensuring non-promotional, evidence-based communication. Medical information & scientific communication Ensure timely, accurate and balanced responses to unsolicited medical information requests on COPD assets, in collaboration with Global / local Medical Information where applicable. Support the development and internal dissemination of scientific materials (e.g. slide decks, scientific summaries, training content) for COPD in line with GSK medical communications standards. Measurement, documentation & continuous improvement Define and track relevant KPIs for COPD medical activities to demonstrate value and impact on patient outcomes and stakeholder understanding. Ensure appropriate documentation and archiving of medical activities, approvals and materials in the relevant systems (e.g. VQD, Content Lab, local repositories), supporting audit-readiness and management monitoring requirements. Why you? Basic Qualifications: University degree in Medicine, Pharmacy or Life Sciences (or equivalent scientific discipline). Additional postgraduate training in respiratory medicine, pharmacology or related fields is an asset (optional – include if relevant locally). Several years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, preferably in Medical Affairs roles with exposure to specialty / respiratory therapy areas. Experience in scientific engagement with External Experts and in a matrix, cross-functional environment (e.g. working with Commercial, Market Access, Regulatory, PV). Proven ability to interpret and communicate evidence-based medicine, including clinical trial data, guidelines and real-world evidence in COPD or related respiratory diseases. Fluency English and French or Dutch (spoken and written) is required. Preferred Qualifications: Strong analytical and scientific communication skills (written and verbal) in the working languages of BeLux (e.g. Dutch and/or French) and English. Ability to work effectively in an office-based, non-line-management role, influencing without direct authority and collaborating across functions and geographies. High level of integrity and understanding of GSK policies, ABAC and external codes for promotional and non-promotional interactions. In addition, this position may offer an annual bonus and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program which is dependent on the level of the role.
