Your role and responsibilitiesIn this role, we are looking for an experienced R&D Manager / People Manager to lead a Digital R&D product pillar or capability team end to end, with accountability for people leadership, delivery predictability and technical direction. Acting as the captain of the ship, the role is responsible for setting direction, removing impediments and ensuring engineering outcomes are delivered with quality, speed, security and business relevance. This is a hands-on senior management role requiring strong technical credibility and the ability to review architecture and code-level trade-offs, guide .NET, Kubernetes and cloud-native engineering, and lead Agile execution across globally distributed teams. The role will work closely with product, architecture, program, release, operations and business stakeholders to translate business priorities into scalable and maintainable engineering solutions. Looking for a Leader get drive Energy & Operation Management within ABB AUEN Digital The work model for the role is: Hybrid You will be mainly accountable forLead people, delivery and stakeholder outcomes by managing and developing a high-performing R&D team, setting clear objectives, allocating work, providing feedback and career development, managing staffing and capacity, and owning delivery outcomes across scope, milestones, quality, risks, dependencies and stakeholder commitments. Drive Agile execution and delivery governance by translating roadmaps into executable sprint and release plans, leading Agile/Scaled Agile ceremonies, maintaining clear roles and decision rights, tracking backlog health, defects and technical debt through Azure DevOps/GitHub, and ensuring transparent reporting of delivery health and risks. Provide hands-on technical and domain leadership across cloud-native, edge and industrial software, including Generative/Agentic AI, C#/.NET, microservices, APIs, Docker, Kubernetes, SaaS/PaaS architecture, observability, performance, reliability and security. Govern architecture decisions, technology roadmaps and technical debt while driving modern DevOps practices including CI/CD, automated testing and infrastructure-as-code. Act as the single accountable leader for the product area, creating clarity in ambiguity, making timely decisions, removing obstacles and driving issues to closure. Connect product intent, industrial customer needs, data flows and platform architecture while collaborating with global ABB teams and external stakeholders to deliver reliable, secure and business-relevant solutions. Qualifications for the roleStrong experience in software engineering, R&D delivery or product engineering leadership, preferably within industrial software, process automation, energy, Asset Performance Management or related operational domains. Strong experience in Asset Performance Management applications is an added advantage. Proven people management experience, including performance management, coaching, staffing, career development, succession planning and building high-performing engineering teams. Demonstrated end-to-end delivery ownership, covering planning, execution, quality, release management, risk and dependency management, stakeholder alignment and delivery governance across complex software products. Strong hands-on technical background in Generative/Agentic AI, C#/.NET, Kubernetes, Docker, microservices and cloud-native architecture, with exposure to LLMs, RAG, MCP and relevant open-source technologies. Experience with Azure or comparable cloud platforms, DevOps pipelines, CI/CD, automated testing, observability, infrastructure-as-code, reliability and security practices. Strong knowledge of Agile/Scrum and scaled Agile methodologies, with demonstrated experience leading multi-team delivery and working effectively with globally distributed teams. BE/BTech/ME/MTech in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, with strong English communication and leadership skills. The candidate should demonstrate an ownership mindset, technical credibility, ability to create clarity in ambiguity, decisive leadership and experience collaborating with cross-functional and external stakeholders.
