Global Manager - Inventories Purpose:The Global Manager - Inventories is responsible for defining, governing, and continuously improving the company’s global inventory strategy to balance service level, working capital, and operational efficiency. This role leads enterprise-wide inventory planning frameworks, policies, and analytics, working cross‑functionally with Planning, Finance, Operations, and Procurement Teams to drive optimal inventory outcomes across all zones and business units. This position plays a critical role in translating business strategy into scalable inventory models, establishing global standards, and enabling data-driven decision-making. The role is based at Global Headquarters in Zug, Switzerland. The Role:Global Inventory Strategy Define and maintain the global inventory strategy aligned with business objectives, customer service targets, and financial goals. Develop inventory segmentation, target-setting methodologies, and stocking strategies across finished goods, WIP, and raw materials. Establish global inventory policies, governance, and performance standards. Planning & Optimization Lead the design and deployment of inventory planning models (e.g., safety stock, cycle stock, buffer strategies, postponement). Optimize inventory positioning across the network considering demand variability, lead times, capacity constraints, and risk. Partner with demand and supply planning teams to improve forecast-to-inventory integration. Performance Management & Analytics Define global inventory KPIs (e.g., inventory turns, DOI, service level, obsolescence, working capital). Analyze inventory drivers and root causes; identify actions to reduce excess, obsolete, and slow-moving inventory. Develop dashboards and executive-level metrics to support strategic decision-making. Cross-Functional & Regional Leadership Provide thought leadership and guidance to regional and business-unit inventory teams. Collaborate closely with Finance on working capital planning, budgeting, and reporting. Influence senior stakeholders to adopt common standards and best practices across regions. Transformation & Continuous Improvement Support supply chain transformation initiatives, system implementations, and advanced analytics adoption. Evaluate and integrate new tools, technologies, and methodologies (e.g., digital planning, AI/ML, scenario modeling). Lead or contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance inventory effectiveness and resilience. Who we’re looking for:Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Engineering, Business, Finance, or a related field (Master’s preferred). 7–10+ years of progressive experience in inventory management, supply chain planning, or operations, with global or regional scope. Demonstrated experience defining inventory strategies and influencing outcomes in complex, multi-site environments. Technical & Analytical Skills Strong expertise in inventory planning concepts (safety stock, service levels, variability, segmentation). Advanced analytical skills, including experience with large data sets and quantitative modeling. Proficiency with planning systems (e.g., SAP, o9, Blue Yonder, or similar) and data tools (Excel, Power BI, SQL, Python preferred). Leadership & Communication Proven ability to lead through influence in matrixed, global organizations. Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex analytics into clear business insights. Experience presenting to senior leadership and driving alignment across functions.
