Abbott Diabetes Care Kilkenny Abbott Diabetes Care has opened a new site, in Kilkenny, that is at the forefront of Diabetes care with the latest technology, to manufacture FreeStyle blood glucose test strips and FreeStyle Sensors for use in diabetes management. Among Abbott Diabetes Care leading brands are the FreeStyle Precision, FreeStyle Lite and FreeStyle Libre systems. The Purpose of the Talent Development & Learning Specialist is to: Develop and execute Learning & Development strategies, programmes, and systems that build organisational capability, enhance employee performance, and support current and future business objectives. Partner with leaders to identify development needs and promote a culture of continuous learning. RESPONSIBILITIES Partner with business and functional leaders to assess current and future capability requirements, conduct learning needs analyses, and develop learning strategies that support business growth and performance. Build strong relationships across site, divisional, and corporate functions to leverage enterprise learning solutions and best practices. Develop and maintain multi-year Learning & Development roadmaps that support organisational capability building and High-Performance Organisation (HPO) objectives. Support talent development initiatives that support succession planning, leadership capability, and workforce development. Develop career pathway resources and provide coaching and guidance to managers and employees on learning and development opportunities. Serve as site lead for further education initiatives and external audits from a Learning & Development perspective. Manage learning systems, curricula, training records, and learning documentation, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement. Manage relationships with external learning providers, educational institutions, and strategic partners to support education outreach objectives. Develop communication and engagement strategies that increase awareness, accessibility, and adoption of Learning & Development programmes. Measure learning effectiveness, analyse training data, manage the L&D budget, and use insights to continuously improve learning outcomes and business impact. Stay informed of industry trends, emerging technologies, and innovative learning practices to ensure programmes remain relevant and effective. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE A third‑level qualification in Human Resources, Business, Management, or equivalent experience. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Learning and Development role or equivalent; experience within the manufacturing industry is an advantage. Experience developing and implementing Learning & Development strategies aligned to organisational objectives. Experience conducting training needs analyses and translating business requirements into effective learning and capability-building solutions. Experience partnering with managers and senior leaders to identify capability gaps, talent development priorities, and succession planning needs. Experience using Learning Management Systems (LMS) and learning analytics to support decision-making, compliance, and continuous improvement. Exceptional interpersonal, communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organisation. Strong project management with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results independently. Experience managing government training grants is desirable.
