Procter & Gamble · CINCINNATI GENERAL OFFICES
Job description
Job Location CINCINNATI GENERAL OFFICES Job Description Information Technology at Procter & Gamble is where business, innovation and technology integrate to build a competitive advantage for P&G. Our mission is clear -- we deliver IT to help P&G win with the over 5 billion consumers we serve worldwide. Our IT professionals are diverse business leaders who apply IT expertise to deliver innovative, tech-focused business models and capabilities for our 65 iconic, trusted brands. From Day 1, you’ll be trusted to dive right in, take the lead, use your initiative, and build billion-dollar brands that help make everyday activities easier and make the world a better place! Our company offers purposeful work that will take your career places you never envisioned, in creative workspaces where innovation thrives and where your technical expertise is recognized and rewarded. The Opportunity As a Data Engineer, you'll design, develop, and implement cloud-based data and analytics platforms (DAP) and pipelines that acquire, cleanse, transform, and publish data from a wide variety of sources. Beyond building robust data solutions, you'll partner closely with business stakeholders, architects, and analytics teams to translate business needs into technical solutions, influence how data is structured and consumed, and help shape engineering standards across the team. Our stack keeps evolving, so we care less about which exact tools you know today and more about your curiosity and drive to keep learning and expanding your skill set. Key Responsibilities Partner with business stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into robust, well-designed data solutions. Design, build, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines on a modern cloud data platform. Integrate the data platform with other systems and services - ingesting from a range of sources (APIs, databases, files, third-party services) and making curated data available to downstream applications and consumers. Take end-to-end ownership of your work - from understanding the requirement, through design and implementation, to monitoring, supporting, and improving what you ship. Act as a technical point of contact for stakeholders, and help guide and mentor less-experienced engineers through knowledge sharing and code review. Help define and evolve our engineering standards and best practices for data - code quality, testing, CI/CD, and reusability. Ensure data quality, reliability, and performance across the solutions you own. Use modern development tools - IDEs (VS Code) and Git-based workflows - to build, test, and ship data solutions efficiently. Leverage Generative AI and agentic tooling to accelerate development, while applying good judgment on where and how to use it safely. Continuously learn and adopt new technologies, and share what you learn to help the whole team grow. Job Qualifications Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field. Experience in data engineering or a closely related field. Strong proficiency in Python and SQL for data processing, transformation, and analysis. Solid understanding of data engineering concepts - data modeling, ETL/ELT design, and distributed data processing. Good understanding of modern cloud platforms (Azure and/or GCP). Experience connecting data solutions with other systems - both ingesting from and delivering data to APIs, databases, and external services. Comfortable working with modern development tools - IDEs (e.g. VS Code), Git-based collaborative workflows, and CI/CD for data pipelines. Ownership mindset - ability to take a problem end-to-end, from understanding the business need to delivering and supporting a reliable solution. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work closely with business stakeholders. Practical experience working with Generative AI tools, with a focus on AI-assisted development and agentic systems - and the judgment to use them effectively and safely. A genuine curiosity and willingness to learn - eager to pick up new technologies and continuously expand your technical stack. Ability to work in Cincinnati, OH based office on a hybrid schedule. Preferred: Hands-on experience with Azure Databricks. Proficiency with PySpark / Spark for large-scale data processing. Experience with Power BI. Background in software development / software engineering (application development, APIs, testing, design patterns) beyond pure data pipelines. Relevant certifications, e.g. Databricks Certified Data Engineer (Associate/Professional) or Microsoft Azure / Google Cloud Data Engineer.
