To support that mission, the IT R&D BL Apps and Product IT team is transforming the Software Development Environment (DevEnv) supporting HMI and Brion into a scalable, secure, and cloud-enabled platform delivered as a managed service. We are seeking an experienced IT Architect to define the future of our Developer Platforms, DevOps ecosystem, and Engineering Workplace Services. In this role, you will shape the architecture, standards, and governance that enable engineering teams worldwide to build, test, and deploy software efficiently, securely, and at scale. As an IT Architect, you will define and drive the target architecture for ASML's DevEnv domain supporting HMI and Brion. You will establish reference architectures, governance, security standards, and cloud-native design patterns that enable reliable, compliant, and cost-effective managed services. Working closely with IT Applications, VDI Platform team, the Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE), Security, and Engineering stakeholders, you will accelerate modern DevOps practices while improving developer productivity and operational excellence. Our headquarters are in Veldhoven, the Netherlands, and we have 18 office locations around the United States including main offices in Chandler Arizona, San Jose and San Diego California, Wilton Connecticut, and Hillsboro Oregon. Role and responsibilities Architecture & Strategy Own the architecture and service strategy for DevEnv application services supporting HMI and Brion. Define target-state architectures, technology roadmaps, governance standards, and architectural decision records. Develop scalable, multi-tenant architectures for platforms including Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo, SonarQube, Artifactory, and Engineering Workplace Services. Establish standards for repository governance, CI/CD pipelines, artifact management, and software delivery practices. Cloud-Native & DevOps Architecture Define reference architectures for Kubernetes, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), GitOps, Argo CD, Helm, and Platform Engineering capabilities. Develop patterns for deployment automation, scalability, resilience, observability, and operational readiness. Create migration strategies and modernization playbooks to transition business-managed applications into enterprise-managed services. Drive standardization and automation across the development platform ecosystem. Security, Compliance & Reliability Embed DevSecOps and Security-by-Design principles across all development platforms. Establish governance for RBAC, secrets management, software supply chain security, SBOM management, vulnerability remediation, data retention, and audit requirements. Define service reliability standards including SLOs, SLIs, monitoring, logging, tracing, dashboards, and error budgets. Ensure compliance with enterprise security, privacy, and regulatory requirements. Innovation & AI Enablement Define architecture standards for AI-enabled engineering capabilities including developer productivity tools, test automation, documentation automation, and AIOps. Establish governance and guardrails that support responsible AI adoption while protecting privacy, security, and intellectual property. Evaluate emerging technologies and identify opportunities to improve developer experience and engineering productivity. Leadership & Collaboration Provide architectural leadership and technical guidance to Technical Leads, Engineers, Product Owners, and stakeholders. Partner with Engineering, Security, Enterprise Architecture, and CCoE teams to deliver scalable solutions. Drive knowledge sharing, architecture reviews, and technical enablement across global teams. Education and experience Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Electronics, or a related field. Master's degree preferred. Required 5+ years of experience as a Solution Architect, Platform Architect, Enterprise Architect, Domain Architect, or Cloud Architect. Experience developing architecture roadmaps, target-state architectures, and governance frameworks. Knowledge of architecture methodologies such as TOGAF or similar frameworks. Experience with architecture modeling tools such as LeanIX, ArchiMate, Enterprise Architect, or comparable solutions. Experience architecting Developer Platforms, Engineering Workplace Services, DevOps Platforms, or Cloud-Native Services. Deep expertise with: Atlassian Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket Bamboo SonarQube JFrog Artifactory Strong experience with CI/CD architecture, repository governance, artifact management, and DevOps best practices. Experience designing platforms using Kubernetes, AKS, GitOps, Argo CD, Helm, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform). Experience implementing observability solutions using Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk, Application Insights, or similar technologies. Experience partnering with infrastructure, cloud, and security teams to deliver enterprise-scale solutions. Experience working within Agile and SAFe environments. Preferred Experience defining managed-service architectures with measurable service reliability objectives. Experience implementing DevSecOps, Software Supply Chain Security, and Platform Engineering frameworks. Experience leading developer productivity or engineering modernization initiatives. Experience introducing AI-enabled solutions within software engineering or DevOps environments. ITIL or service management experience. Other information This position is located on-site in San Jose, California It requires onsite presence to attend in-person work-related events, trainings and meetings and to further ensure teamwork, collaboration and innovation. (Important to insert additional onsite language specific to the role: i.e., inspection, specific training and supervision, etc.) A flexible workplace arrangement is available for remote work up to two days a week. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of several factors that that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, relevant education and experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and pay relative to other team members.
