This role is a key driver for modernizing our processes by applying digitalization and automation techniques to improve efficiency, quality, and data-driven decision-making. The cabin engineer works with internal customers and the manufacturer for the coordination of the 2D/3D Design. Your working environment: The Engineering Center in Mobile, Alabama houses hundreds of Airbus engineers who assist in the design and development of Airbus commercial aircraft cabins, including aftermarket upgrades, reconfigurations and services of all product types across the globe. Your challenges: Support Design & Engineering Delivery: 40% Assist with updating and revising 2D/3D models based on manufacturing and design requirements under senior supervision. Help track customization milestones and support project deliverables through the engineering change process. Coordinate with cross-functional teams (stress engineers, drafters, and designers) to support design manufacturability. Help identify recurring design issues and contribute to developing scripted or automated solutions. Assist in creating project deliverables, including draft feasibility studies, integration plans, and clash investigations. Support automation initiatives by maintaining routine engineering reports, data analysis workflows, and documentation. Provide design input during team reviews to support robust project planning. Prepare engineering models and documentation following standard templates, company standards, and regulatory requirements. Gather and organize test and certification data for review by senior engineers and compliance leads. Offer suggestions for improving cabin design and engineering process efficiency. Process Automation & Scripting: Basic proficiency in Python to assist with automating repetitive tasks (e.g., document checks, report generation) and parsing technical data. Exposure to data manipulation libraries like Pandas is a plus. Workflow & Collaboration Tools: Ability to use Google Apps Scripts or built-in Workspace features to help streamline team workflows, consolidate data, and support report/dashboard updates within Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs, Drive). Data Extraction & Web Tools: Basic experience or willingness to learn web automation tools (such as Selenium) to help extract data and interact with internal applications or supplier portals. AI & Future Technologies Mindset: Eagerness to explore and utilize Google Gemini ecosystem tools (Gemini web app, Workspace integrations) to enhance daily research, drafting, and problem-solving workflows. Adaptability & Learning: Strong willingness to learn new digital tools, follow team coding standards, and apply digital toolsets to everyday engineering support tasks. Your boarding pass: Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Engineering (Aero, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical) 0 to 3 years total experience in design/analysis with cabin and cargo and/or system installation projects. Candidates must have strong proficiency using Google G Suite. Demonstrate a willingness to learn and be proactive working with teams. Demonstrate flexibility regarding the changing working environment. Must have the ability to write reports, specifications, work statements, requirements and other technical documents. Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Detailed-oriented with excellent proof-reading and writing skills Effective communication skills in English Must be able to present information and answer questions related to produced documentation. Provides a clear communication link between vendors and the engineering team. Communicate frequently with other departments internally, externally and internationally. CAD experience is essential with Catia V5. Strong capability in MS Office/Google Products. Ability to learn new tool sets as required. Ability to independently develop, communicate and recommend changes to processes and procedures. Ability to direct and facilitate Problem Solving activities and track progress to completion. Authorized to Work in the US Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities Experience with Airbus cabin and cargo engineering French, German, or Spanish skills a plus Experience with PDM (TAKSY, PASS-SSI) Master of Science (MS) degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Aerospace Engineering. Internship in the aerospace engineering field. Travel Required 10 % Domestic and International Physical Requirements Onsite or remote: Minimum 80% onsite and 20% remote. Vision: Daily able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens; able to read documents, reports, and engineering drawings. Hearing: Daily able to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone, and to hear sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms. Speaking: Daily able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information, and participate in communications. Daily Equipment Operation: Able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and electronic identification card for building entry). Carrying: Daily able to carry documents, tools, drawings, and electronic equipment up to 10 lbs. Sitting/Standing/Walking: Daily able to sit for long periods of time in meetings or working on a computer ; stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor ; and walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Required: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site. Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits; appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor.
