The Senior Cabin Engineer exercises considerable independence to perform complex engineering design, analysis, and integration from the initial conceptual phase to final product installation, while serving as a key technical point of contact and providing expert guidance to airline customers. ​ Meet the team: Our Engineers have the privilege of working on complex, highly engineered machines and are involved at all stages of the aircraft life cycle, from product development to manufacturing and direct support to our airline customers. Your working environment: The Engineering Center in Mobile, Alabama houses hundreds of Airbus engineers who assist in the design and development of Airbus commercial aircraft cabins, including aftermarket upgrades, reconfigurations and services of all product types across the globe. Your Challenges: Technical Ownership: Exercise considerable independence to create, update, and approve complex 2D/3D CAD models and engineering changes in compliance with manufacturing and design requirements. Complex Problem Solving: Develop innovative technical solutions to complex cabin design and integration challenges requiring regular use of ingenuity and creativity. Cross-Functional Leadership: Guide cross-functional teams (stress engineers, drafters, and designers) to ensure design manufacturability, safety, and integration integrity. Signatory Authority: Obtain and effectively utilize Approve and Authorizer technical signatory status for engineering releases and design approvals. Project Leadership: Guide and lead the successful completion of major cabin engineering projects, establishing clear team requirements, technical objectives, and binding commitments. Stakeholder Contact: Act as the primary technical contact on key contracts and projects; interact with senior external personnel and airline clients on major technical matters. Future Methodologies: Review technical approaches and design outcomes to establish new standard operating procedures and solutions for future technical issues. Certification Leadership: Lead the preparation, review, and authorization of complex certification plans, test data, and technical documentation packages. Accountability: Maintain high decision-making rigor—ensuring all certification data meets regulatory standards, as erroneous decisions would result in failure to achieve major organizational objectives. Executive Presentations: Confidently prepare and deliver detailed, complex business and technical presentations to internal leadership, regulatory authorities, and external partners. Process Automation & Scripting: Apply technical proficiency in Python (including libraries like Pandas) to automate complex engineering workflows, data analysis, and report generation. Workflow Optimization: Leverage Google Workspace tools (including Apps Script) and AI tools (such as Google Gemini) to streamline project management, technical research, and team productivity. Data Extraction: Utilize web automation tools (e.g., Selenium) to extract and process technical data from internal databases and supplier portals. Your boarding pass: Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Engineering (Aero, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical) 9+ years in aircraft cabin interior design, stress/integration analysis, and certification. Candidates must have strong proficiency using Google G Suite. Demonstrate a willingness to learn and be proactive working with teams. Demonstrate flexibility regarding the changing working environment. Must have the ability to write reports, specifications, work statements, requirements and other technical documents. Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Detailed-oriented with excellent proof-reading and writing skills Effective communication skills in English Must be able to present information and answer questions related to produced documentation. Provides a clear communication link between vendors and the engineering team. Communicate frequently with other departments internally, externally and internationally. CAD experience is essential with Catia V5. Strong capability in MS Office/Google Products. Ability to learn new tool sets as required. Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities Experience with Airbus cabin and cargo engineering French, German, or Spanish skills a plus Signatory Status: Ability to obtain Authorizer technical signatory status; proven track record with Approve signatory authority. Technical Skills: Expert proficiency in 2D/3D CAD software alongside working knowledge of scripting tools (Python, VBA, CAD macros). Communication: High-level oral, written, and presentation skills with proven ability to lead complex technical discussions with senior external stakeholders. Master of Science (MS) degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Aerospace Engineering. Experience with PDM (TAKSY, PASS-SSI). Travel Required 10 % Domestic and International Citizenship Authorized to Work in the US Physical Requirements Onsite or remote: Minimum 80% onsite and 20% remote. Vision: Daily able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens; able to read documents, reports, and engineering drawings. Hearing: Daily able to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone, and to hear sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms. Speaking: Daily able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information, and participate in communications. Daily Equipment Operation: Able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and electronic identification card for building entry). Carrying: Daily able to carry documents, tools, drawings, and electronic equipment up to 10 lbs. Sitting/Standing/Walking: Daily able to sit for long periods of time in meetings or working on a computer ; stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor ; and walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Required: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site. Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits; appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor.
