The Non-Financial Risks (NFR) team at BBVA C&IB ensures that the non-financial risk levels of C&IB are managed effectively and aligned with the Group's strategy, policies and procedures in this area, supporting business development, growth, and profitability within C&IB. About the job: The selected person will report to the Head of NFR in the UK. Based in London, the selected person will play a key role in the implementation, and ongoing management of the local NFR function across the UK business perimeter. The position will be responsible for key initiatives and its execution, and will work closely with local business and support areas, as well as with global NFR teams. The role will work with the 1st and 3rd Lines of Defense to: Governance Implementation and Adaptation: Lead the implementation and local adaptation of BBVA's global Non-Financial Risk (NFR) governance framework in the UK, ensuring consistency with Group standards and local regulatory expectations. Risk Assessment: Lead the coordination and challenge of the Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs), and local top-down risk assessments, incorporating emerging risks, supervisor concerns, business developments, and local priorities. Control Agenda Development: Build and coordinate the UK control agenda to address prioritized risk assessment results in collaboration with senior management and business/support units, following up on remediation plans and key control initiatives. Risk Appetite and Control Frameworks: Define, monitor, and escalate relevant NFR metrics and risk appetite indicators for the UK perimeter, ensuring appropriate reporting and discussion in the relevant governance forums. Support for New Business and Growth: Support the non-financial risk admission processes for new products, transactions, and business initiatives in the UK, ensuring alignment with BBVA's frameworks and early identification of key risks and controls. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Support and challenge Risk Control Assurers (RCAs) in the first line of defense (1LoD), coordinate with Compliance and other second-line functions, and collaborate with Internal Audit (3LoD) to strengthen the local control environment. In addition, the role will provide support, when required, to the RIC&C Coordination team on selected strategic Group NFR initiatives, governance activities, and reporting matters, most of them connected with the UK perimeter. Requirements for this position include: Education: Academic background in Business Administration, Economics, Law, Engineering, Sciences, or a related field. A master's degree or certifications related to financial markets, banking, risk, compliance, audit, and/or internal control will be considered an asset. Professional Experience and Knowledge: 5+ years of relevant experience in non-financial risk, internal control, audit, compliance, and/or risk management functions within Corporate Banking, Investment Banking, or Capital Markets. Experience coordinating complex initiatives and engaging with senior stakeholders, with the ability to combine strategic oversight and hands-on execution. Familiarity with the Internal Control Model and Non-Financial Risk Management in complex, regulated environments, ideally within banking or financial services, as well as knowledge of the UK regulatory and business environment. Knowledge of Non-Financial Risk management frameworks and methodologies. Familiarity with BBVA’s MiGRO framework, or experience with comparable risk management frameworks in other financial institutions, would be advantageous.
