Airbus Helicopters is seeking a driven Manufacturing Engineer to lead the development, optimization, and scaling of our advanced manufacturing processes. Reporting directly to the Chief Engineer, this 100% on-site role places you at the heart of our production floor—driving manufacturing assembly, optimizing tool and workstation design, and managing process configurations for cutting-edge mechanical, electrical, and uncrewed aerial systems (UAS). Meet the Team: The Airbus Helicopters Flexrotor Program offers one of the most sophisticated small tactical unmanned aerial systems (STUAS) with vertical take-off and landing (VTOL). It can be used day or night by US and allied forces for a diverse range of intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance (ISTAR) on land and at sea. Your Challenges: Manufacturing Process Development and Analysis: 80% Develop manufacturing processes, procedures, and workflows for assembly of mechanical and electrical aerospace products. Identifies and tracks risks and issues with manufacturing process quality, consistency, and efficiency; prioritizes leads and manages resolution of. Create, release, version control, and maintain manufacturing work instructions. Implement 5S in design of process, tool sets, part kits, and workstations Maintains M-BOM, configuration control of, and compliance to engineering design. Design tools, fixtures, jigs, and work space for efficient, accurate, and repeatable manufacturing assembly and test. Determine in-process quality inspection steps required to achieve assembly requirements. Conceptualize, design, develop, and fabricate in process and post-process static and dynamic test equipment for verification of critical to quality features and function. Participate in design review with design engineering, providing input to design for manufacturability Provide training to manufacturing staff on new procedures Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements. Support new production, and MRO. Manufacturing Process Improvement: 10% Evaluates manufacturing processes and identifies opportunities to improve quality, consistency, and efficiency; prioritized and leads implementation of. Applies knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators to improve processes and environment. Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. Improves traceability of as-built product at all levels of child parts Continuously improves processes with implementation of 5S methodologies. Project Management: 10% Ensure timely implementation of process improvement and general projects. Assume the role of Project Manager for special projects, as requested. Manage budgets, facilitation, timeline and change management for all assigned projects. Your Boarding Pass (Required for consideration) Must possess Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or equivalent experience (4 years) Must have five (5) or more years related engineering experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience writing manufacturing work instructions, designing and developing manufacturing processes.. Ability to author and structure manufacturing work instructions, define BOMS, manufacturing workflows, tool and part control. Knowledge and skills in use of and designing jigs and fixtures, Knowledge in process inspection and traceability. Knowledge of manufacturing ergonomics Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Experience working on UAS Composite Structure (secondary and primary). Composite experience in other fields such as automotive, or boating will be considered. Experience with 3D printing processes (ex: fused deposition modeling (FDM), selective laser sintering (SLS) or similar. Engineering Processes for manufacturing and test work instructions. Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office and OS. One or more years of experience with mechanical design tools such as SolidWorks, CATIA, etc Travel Required: 5% Domestic and International Citizenship: Must be a US Person under ITAR definition (U.S. Citizen, green card holder or person covered under our existing ITAR license) Physical Requirements: Onsite or remote: 95% onsite in Bingen, WA- 5% travel Vision: able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings daily. Hearing: able to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms daily. Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications daily. Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts daily. Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs daily. Lifting: able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs daily. Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools several times a week. Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer daily. Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving several times a week. Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor daily. Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice several times a year. Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces
