SLT Test Engineer
AMD · Austin, Texas
Job description
ADVANCE YOUR CAREER. ADVANCE THE WORLD. At AMD, we believe technology can change lives for the better. It can heal us, entertain us, and make us more connected, productive, and understanding of the world around us. And we’re looking for talent who feel the same: people who want to leave the planet better than they found it, those who don’t shy away from humanity’s challenges but are determined to help solve them. AMD is powering the next generation of supercomputing, high-performance computing, cloud, and AI. Whether you’re designing next-gen processors, enabling AI breakthroughs, or creating go-to-market plans, every role at AMD contributes to something bigger — technology that moves the world forward. THE ROLE: Join AMD's System Level Test (SLT) team and help bring next-generation AMD processors from early silicon bring-up through high-volume manufacturing. As an SLT Engineer, you will play a key role across the New Product Introduction (NPI) lifecycle, working at the intersection of CPU architecture, silicon design, firmware, manufacturing, and data analytics to ensure products meet quality, performance, power, and reliability goals. You will develop and optimize SLT test solutions, investigate design and firmware issues, analyze product and test data, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve yield, test efficiency, and overall product readiness. This is a highly visible opportunity to influence how AMD's latest CPU technologies transition from development into production while helping shape future test strategies and methodologies. THE PERSON: The ideal candidate is a curious, hands-on engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and turning data into actionable insights. You are self-motivated, accountable for delivering high-quality results, and comfortable driving technical decisions independently while collaborating with global, cross-functional teams. You thrive in fast-paced environments and are passionate about advancing leading-edge processor technologies. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop, debug, and optimize SLT test programs for AMD processors. Support new product bring-up, characterization, and test margin analysis. Analyze data to identify opportunities for yield, quality, test coverage, and test time improvements. Investigate and resolve silicon, firmware, design, and manufacturing issues. Partner with design, diagnostics, foundry, supply chain, and engineering teams to drive product readiness. Improve test methodologies, automation, and engineering tools to increase operational efficiency. PREFERRED SKILLS: Background in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Digital Logic, Circuit Theory, or Computer Architecture. Programming or scripting experience with Python, C/C++, Java, SQL, shell scripting, or similar languages. Knowledge of statistical analysis, data modeling, and Pareto-based problem solving. Experience with data analytics and visualization tools such as JMP, Snowflake, or similar platforms. Familiarity with PC hardware, system bring-up, ATE environments, and hardware debug methodologies. Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to work effectively with geographically distributed global teams; exposure to machine learning concepts or automation tool development is a plus. ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred; Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical disciplines preferred. Advanced degree is a plus. LOCATION: Austin, TX This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship. #LI-LC2 #LI-Hybrid Benefits offered are described: AMD benefits at a glance .
