Staff Engineer, Mechanical
Thermo Fisher · Hyderabad, India
Job description
Work Schedule First Shift (Days) Environmental Conditions Office Job Description We are seeking a Staff Mechanical (TPD) Engineer — an experienced E/MCAD engineer with strong MCAD capability and demonstrable experience in cable and cable-routing TPD — to lead creation, verification and automation of technical documentation for complex electro-mechanical products. You will own MCAD-driven documentation quality, enable AI-led automated TPD checking and 2D drawing review, drive RoHS-compliant component search processes (to avoid shipment blockages by mid-2027), and coach Band 5 and Band 6 TPD engineers while providing authoritative remote support to global design teams. Key responsibilities: Creation, checking and controlled release of TPD deliverables (2D drawings, manufacturing and assembly drawings, installation and service documentation, TPD BOMs) for electro-mechanical products. Act as MCAD SME in a Siemens NX / Teamcenter environment: ensure consistent extraction of 2D deliverables from 3D models, correct application of GD&T and DFX, and adoption of Model Based Definition (MBD) with Parts Manufacturing Information (PMI). Own cable and cable-routing TPDs: author and validate harness drawings, cable routing details, connector pinouts and cable BOMs; ensure clear mechanical-electrical interface definitions suitable for manufacturing and service. Design, develop and deploy AI-enabled tools and agents to automate TPD checking and 2D drawing review, improving accuracy and reducing review/release cycle time. Implement automated checks and scorecards for drawing attributes, BOM reconciliation, tolerance and annotation compliance, and cable routing/connector validations. Lead RoHS/REACH component compliance searches and workflows; integrate compliance flags with PLM/ERP to prevent shipment blockages by mid-2027. Integrate automation with PLM/PDM and CAD tool chains (Teamcenter) and ensure traceability, change-control and auditability for documentation outputs. Coach, mentor and develop Band 5 and Band 6 TPD engineers; lead technical reviews and uphold documentation quality standards. Provide timely, high-quality remote technical support to global engineering, manufacturing, procurement and quality stakeholders. Track and report KPIs (cycle time reduction, automated-check pass rate, RoHS coverage, productivity gains). Requirements: The ideal candidate for this position enjoys working in a multi-disciplinary technical environment to solve complex technical problems. University degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline. Masters preferred. Typical experience: ≥ 8 years (or Master’s + ≥ 5 years) in engineering and technical documentation for electro-mechanical products. Strong hands-on Siemens NX experience and working knowledge of Teamcenter PLM. Preferable experience with Model Based Definition (MBD) and Parts Manufacturing Information (PMI). Proven experience authoring and checking cable and cable-routing TPDs (routing, harness drawings, connector pinouts, cable BOMs). Experience with CAD export/parsing formats (STEP, IGES, Parasolid, DWG/DXF) and integrating checks into PLM/PDM workflows. Practical understanding of RoHS/REACH requirements and experience performing compliant component searches. Excellent written and verbal communication, stakeholder management and remote collaboration skills. English proficiency B2+. Strong analytical, problem solving and mentoring skills.
