Job description

Join us in pioneering breakthroughs in healthcare. For everyone. Everywhere. Sustainably. Our inspiring and caring environment forms a global community that celebrates diversity and individuality. We encourage you to step beyond your comfort zone, offering resources and flexibility to foster your professional and personal growth, all while valuing your unique contributions. Siemens Healthineers is seeking a Software Engineer – Image Formation / Reconstruction. In this role, you will contribute to the development of high-performance software and numerical algorithms supporting Siemens Healthineers' Molecular Imaging technologies. Working within a multidisciplinary R&D organization, you will collaborate closely with software engineers, physicists, researchers, and other technical experts to develop scalable and flexible image formation solutions. You will help translate new research concepts and data correction methods into robust, production-quality software while contributing to the architecture, automated testing, performance, and reliability of the overall platform. This is an excellent opportunity for a software engineer who enjoys working at the intersection of C++, mathematics, physics, algorithms, and medical imaging technology. We are only considering candidates who are authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future visa sponsorship. You are responsible for: Collaborating with software development teams to define software architecture, interfaces, and design approaches for a scalable and flexible image formation platform. Partnering closely with research scientists and physicists on the development and implementation of new data correction, image formation, and data analysis methods. Designing, documenting, implementing, and optimizing flexible, robust, and high-performance numerical algorithms. Developing and maintaining production-quality software primarily using C++ within Microsoft Visual Studio and related development environments. Translating mathematical, physics, and research concepts into reliable and maintainable software implementations. Designing and implementing automated testing strategies and frameworks to ensure software quality, performance, and reliability. Developing automated approaches for test execution, validation, reporting, and troubleshooting. Analyzing software and system behavior to identify defects, performance issues, and opportunities for improvement. Supporting the diagnosis and resolution of complex software and system issues involving cutting-edge Molecular Imaging technologies, helping minimize system downtime for clinicians and patients. Participating in code reviews, software design discussions, testing, documentation, and other activities throughout the software development lifecycle. Working within an Agile/SAFe development environment and collaborating effectively across international and cross-functional teams. This position may suit you best if: You enjoy developing software where computer science intersects with mathematics, physics, and real-world engineering problems. You have strong C++ programming skills and enjoy developing high-performance or computationally intensive software. You are interested in numerical algorithms, image reconstruction, image processing, scientific computing, or similar technical areas. You enjoy working directly with scientists, physicists, and other engineers to turn research concepts into production software. You believe automated testing and software quality should be built into the development process rather than treated as an afterthought. You are comfortable troubleshooting complex software and system-level problems. You enjoy learning new technologies and working within globally distributed engineering teams. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline. 2+ years of software development experience preferred, particularly within product software development or another complex technical environment. Strong software design and development experience using C++. Experience working with Microsoft Visual Studio or comparable development environments. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a solid foundation or demonstrated aptitude in mathematics and physics. Experience with modern software development methodologies such as Agile, SAFe, iterative development, and/or Test-Driven Development (TDD). Experience designing, implementing, or working with automated software testing frameworks and strategies. Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary and internationally distributed teams. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Intel oneAPI or similar high-performance computing libraries/toolsets. Experience developing or optimizing numerical algorithms, scientific computing applications, or computationally intensive software. Experience with multithreaded or parallel software development and performance optimization. Experience with medical imaging, image reconstruction, image processing, signal processing, or other physics-based computational applications. Experience collaborating directly with research scientists, physicists, or algorithm developers. Experience with automated test architecture, unit testing, component testing, test execution, and automated reporting. Familiarity with CI/CD, Azure DevOps, Git, PowerShell, YAML, or related software development and automation tools. Experience developing software for complex hardware/software systems or regulated products is a plus.
