Job description

Meet the team Join the Cisco Process & Automation team in developing leading automation technology, this role works cross-functionally with process engineering, manufacturing, equipment, and quality teams to drive productivity, yield, and quality improvements through advanced automation technologies. We are seeking a professional and meticulous Optical Module Coupling Engineer to join our manufacturing technical team. The incumbent will be mainly responsible for the optical coupling process development, mass production implementation, process optimization and technical troubleshooting of optical modules. This role requires solid fundamental optical knowledge and practical coupling operation experience, capable of independently analyzing process failures, solving on-site technical problems, and ensuring stable yield and production efficiency of optical module coupling processes. Your Impact Conduct daily optical coupling production work for various optical modules Optimize existing optical coupling processes, improve coupling efficiency, product yield and consistency, and reduce production costs and defective rates. Responsible for on-site technical support for coupling production, quickly respond to abnormal production conditions, and handle process and product defects in a timely manner. Carry out failure analysis of coupling-related defective products, summarize failure modes root causes (such as coupling offset, optical power loss, glue failure, fiber displacement etc.), and formulate targeted improvement and preventive measures. Cooperate with R&D and quality teams to verify new products, new coupling processes and new materials, and complete process validation and mass production conversion work. Sort out coupling process documents, standard operation procedures (SOP) and failure analysis reports, and accumulate process experience to form technical archives. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor degree or above in Optics, Optoelectronics, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related majors. Familiar with basic optical theories and professional knowledge, understand the working principle of optical modules, optical path transmission principles and fiber coupling mechanism. Possess practical hands-on experience in optical module coupling process, familiar with coupling equipment operation, fiber alignment adjustment, optical power calibration and related production processes. Equipped with independent failure analysis and problem-solving capabilities, able to quickly locate coupling process abnormalities and product failure causes, and implement effective solutions. Familiar with common optical module products (such as SFP, QSFP, OSFP, 800G/400G high-speed optical modules) and mainstream coupling processes is preferred. Good logical thinking, hands-on ability and on-site emergency response capability, able to adapt to production technical support work. Preferred Qualifications Rich working experience in high-speed optical module coupling process and mass production optimization. Experienced in analyzing complex coupling yield issues and leading process improvement projects. Familiar with optical testing instruments such as optical power meter, spectrum analyzer and insertion loss tester. Why Cisco?
