Job Title: Sr. Specialist, Workplace Health & Safety Job Description Health and SafetyReporting to Facilities Manager 1. Carry out regular occupational safety and health audits to identify risks to safety and health; 2. Assess the need for preventive measures to safeguard the safety and health of employees and any other person not in the employment of the employer; 3. Advise the employer in writing on practicable measures and appropriate techniques to be implemented to minimise any risk in any process in the undertaking of his employer 4. Design and implement appropriate training programmes to meet the requirements of this Act and any other enactment dealing with occupational safety and health, and keep proper records thereof; 5. Review any measure, method, procedure or technique adopted to ensure occupational safety and health at intervals of not more than 2 years or at such intervals as the Permanent Secretary may direct in writing and keep proper records thereof; 6. Recommend in writing to the employer appropriate occupational safety and health programmes, where the circumstances so justify; 7.Develop effective communication systems on occupational safety and health between the employer and any employee; Inspect all places of work under his responsibility at least once every month and record his findings in the register provided by the employer; exercise adequate supervision to ensure the effective implementation of arrangements made, and preventive measures taken, by the employer; and enquire into – all complaints made by an employee; 8. Occupational accidents and dangerous occurrences at any place of work and make a report thereon, and recommend in writing any safety and health measures to be implemented by the employer. 9. Ensure that the workplace is free from any hazards. Participate and drive events where Health and Safety of employees is concerned Take pictures and share to concerned party for social networking. 10. Assist employees who need psychological assistance Conduct Health and Safety meeting on a regular basis. 11.Conduct Fire Drill on a yearly interval Inspect all outsourced facilities under his responsibility at least once every month and record his findings in the register provided by the employer; 12. Inspect the canteen service and ensure everything is compliant with industry best practice Regular check of first air boxes. 13. Conduct induction training with employees and register all health and safety trainings to ensure claim to HRDC. Seek quotations for all equipment and materials related to Health and Safety 14. Any Facilities Related duties assigned by the Facilities Manager Keeping proper filling and e filling of documents. Any adhoc duties deem appropriate by the Facilities Manager Working days will be Monday to Friday and from 09h00 to 19h00 or 10h00 to 20h00. No work on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays. Candidate Profile SC HSC Graduate from a recognized university Registered Health and Safety Officer with the Ministry of Health Effective communication skills, both written and verbal Proficient in Microsoft Office Detail-oriented Can do attitude Result Oriented Close follow up attitude Salary Offered Basic Rs 28K + Transport 2k Location: Mauritius - Ebene Cybercity - Cube Language Requirements: Time Type: Part time
