The Position As a Technical Lead within Group Communications Engineering, you will serve as the premier technical authority and strategic anchor for our communication platforms and digital solutions. Operating at the intersection of corporate strategy and high-quality execution, you will act as a vital bridge between business priorities and technical delivery. The opportunity: Success in this role demands strong business acumen to deeply understand our business direction, overarching strategies, and shifting priorities. In close partnership with Business Partners, Product Owners, and Solution Architects, you will translate these complex strategic initiatives into concrete technical requirements and future-ready digital solutions. Beyond architectural design, you will actively guide and facilitate the day-to-day work of the engineering teams—collaborating with Product Owners to align technical priorities, manage delivery dependencies, and ensure seamless roadmap execution. Job Responsibilities Content Leadership: Serve as a subject matter expert and strategic lead for technical delivery teams, driving high-impact, Group Communication initiatives that align with global goals and affiliate needs. Foster collaboration across all organizational levels to influence strategy and ensure the successful execution of complex business outcomes. Accountability/Problem Solving: Leads problem-solving, taking accountability for multiple workstreams or outcomes that influence strategic objectives. Anticipates and mitigates potential issues before they arise, using advanced analysis to address complex problems. Employs a systems-thinking approach to propose solutions that align with business and global goals, demonstrating high accountability in driving sustained improvements and efficiencies across teams. Stakeholder Management: Manages relationships across all levels with trust and expertise, effectively communicates complex ideas, and contributes to strategic business initiatives. Shapes joint business-RDT collaborations and proactively drives global process improvements. Strategy: Effectively connects across RDT functions, and anticipates strategic needs from the business, and solving strategically valuable challenges. Business/Technical ability: Leads technology advocacy with advanced expertise, serves as a key opinion leader, manages stakeholders end-to-end, and scales piloted solutions to maximize impact. Who you are: Education / Experience Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems 10+ years of experience in software engineering, including 5+ years leading technical teams and driving large-scale technology initiatives Proven track record of delivering and scaling customer-facing enterprise SaaS platforms through periods of growth and transformation Deep understanding of the software development lifecycle, including architecture, system design, and delivery at scale Experience applying agile methodologies to drive high-quality, high-performance software delivery Experience managing vendor relationships and operating within outsourced or hybrid IT delivery models Experience in team leadership, mentoring & coaching Strong communication, negotiation, capable of effectively communicating complex technical information and building trusted partnerships across stakeholder ecosystems Technical Skills Understanding of AI and ML concepts including Generative AI, Large Language Models, and Retrieval Augmented Generation with the ability to guide practical application Broad full stack knowledge enabling effective guidance across frontend, backend, and data layers Experience designing and integrating APIs, enterprise systems, and modern application ecosystems Strong architectural expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), including scalable, secure, and resilient system design Deep understanding of distributed systems, cloud native architectures, and microservices Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes and modern infrastructure patterns Strong understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code to enable scalable and reliable operations Familiarity with observability, monitoring, and performance optimization practices including tools such as Datadog or similar Expertise in enterprise security and privacy principles including secure architecture, data protection, and complianceIntranet / Employee Experience Platforms (Wordpress, LumApps) Employee Communications Platforms (Poppulo / Firstup / Mailchimp) Corporate Giving / Impact Platforms (Benevity / GivePulse) BUSINESS ACUMEN Deep understanding of how internal communications influence culture, retention, productivity, and change management. Ability to improve digital employee experiences through personalization, targeted messaging, and self-service content models. Knowledge of employee lifecycle engagement strategies across onboarding, recognition, volunteerism, leadership messaging, and events. Understand the strategic value of giving programs, volunteerism, mentorship, and community engagement. Enable platforms that measure participation, donations, impact metrics, and employee sentiment. Understand how internal and external messaging impacts employer brand, public trust, and corporate reputation. Ensure accessibility compliance, privacy controls, brand standards, and publishing governance. On-site position in Indianapolis (Must be willing to work on-site) Relocation benefits are not available for this job posting. The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Indianapolis, is between $118,700-$220,400. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
