The Impact You’ll Make in this Role As an Engineering Coordinator, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by: Under guidance of Engineers or supervisor, administers and coordinates site-specific engineering projects and/or programs, including participating in and recommending/identifying capital equipment purchases and installation. Acts as Sourcing Partner, following Sourcing organization policies and procedures to execute capital equipment purchases. Provides financial analysis to project managers as requested. Provides technical expertise and acts as a statistical resource for assigned projects. Project Management. Under the guidance of Engineers or supervisor, independently manages technical projects, Engineering Work Requests (EWR's), and/or Specialty Work Requests (SWR’s) of a lower risk and complexity, as assigned. Assists in the definition of internal customer requirements and selects equipment to meet these needs, including identification of appropriate internal contacts and appropriate outside suppliers of laboratory and plant equipment needs. Generates estimates and obtains bids and/or quotes, negotiates price, delivery date, etc., when necessary. Writes project justification and prepares the Authorization for Expenditure (AFE). Manages spending against budgets and reports on spending and commitments for assigned projects. (40%) Capital Equipment Purchases. Acts as Sourcing Partner for project managers, following Sourcing organization policies and procedures to execute capital equipment purchases. Receives and interprets requests requiring purchase requisitions for requestors from laboratories, plants, and divisions. Analyzes and confirms needs; requests and obtains funding for equipment needs. Independently selects appropriate supplier, placing order with supplier negotiating lead times as necessary. Expedites supplier services and delivery to meet client requirements. Keeps requestors informed of changes and developments to prices, lead times, and delivery. Ensures timely receipt of goods as well as prompt payment to suppliers. (35%) Supplier Management. Coordinates and monitors activities performed by suppliers and/or contractors. Oversees administrative tasks performed by suppliers, such as timesheet accuracy, utilization of appropriate resources for the job, etc. Evaluates supplier performance relating to delivery, pricing, quality. Partners with Sourcing Operations organization as appropriate to identify new suppliers, resolve performance issues, or develop and implement process improvements, policies, or procedures. Provides training and education to suppliers. Performs cost and financial analysis; may oversee/authorize payments. Builds and fosters a positive working relationship with vendors, distributors, and customers. (10%) Financial Reporting. Provides financial analysis to project managers as requested. Provides input to project forecasting, budget development, asset reconciliation, project spending. Functions as a statistical as well as a technical resource by analyzing budgets and forecasts to monitor project spending, alerting management and project engineers to pending issues. (10%) Miscellaneous. Maintains knowledge of business processes. Independently answers questions, responds to plant’s needs, and acts as resource to business partners. May answer questions and provide training for new members in the work group on Engineering systems. May provide work direction and delegate tasks as appropriate to Engineering Aides or contract workers. Maintains and enhances technical skill levels by utilizing internal courses or seminars and/or pursuing on-going external higher technical education opportunities. Participates on engineering teams and/or department committees. (5%) Your Skills and Expertise To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications: High School Diploma or higher (completed and verified prior to start) and Six (6) years experience supporting or coordinating engineering, manufacturing, facilities, laboratory, or plant projects in a private, public, government or military environment. OR Associate’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) Four (4) years experience supporting or coordinating engineering, manufacturing, facilities, laboratory, or plant projects in a private, public, government or military environment. Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include: Batchelor’s degree from an accredited institution. Eight (8) years of experience supporting or coordinating engineering, manufacturing, facilities, laboratory, or plant projects in a private, public, government or military environment. Familiarity with procurement, financial, engineering, or project management systems. Experience preparing estimates, project justifications, budget updates, or AFE documentation. Strong project management, planning, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities independently and escalate complex issues as needed. Experience working with cross-functional teams, including engineering, sourcing, finance, operations, maintenance, and suppliers. Working knowledge of basic engineering principles, equipment specifications, and technical troubleshooting. Ability to use data, metrics, or basic statistical analysis to support project decisions. Experience following safety, health, environmental, and business conduct requirements in a plant or technical environment. Work location: Work location: This role follows an on-site working model, requiring the employee to work full-time at 3M Valley, NE.
