Meet the Team Join our Bangalore team building Cisco IQ — one of Cisco's high-profile cloud-based SaaS products. As a Grade 6 Engineer, you'll own features end-to-end, write clean tested code, and use AI and agentic development tools every day as part of how we build. You'll work flexibly across the project, partner with Product and Design, and grow technically with structured mentorship and clear expectations. Your Impact Write clean, tested, maintainable code using strong engineering practices and AI/agentic tools; work flexibly across the project as priorities change Own features end-to-end — from requirements through production — with Product, Design, and engineers Flag blockers early, follow through on fixes, and improve team workflows, tooling, and processes Contribute through code reviews, knowledge sharing, clear communication, and team-level technical decisions Minimum Qualifications Minimum 3 years of professional software development experience writing clean, readable production code, including handling edge cases and basic error handling in at least one programming language (e.g., Java, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Go, or C++). Minimum 2 years of experience developing or integrating RESTful APIs, including CRUD operations, HTTP methods (GET, POST, PUT, PATCH, DELETE), status codes, request validation, and error handling. Demonstrated knowledge of data structures and algorithms sufficient to solve easy-to-medium coding problems and explain basic time/space complexity (e.g., O(n), O(n²), O(log n)). Minimum 1 year of experience writing unit tests (happy path and error paths), using Git for branching, pull requests, code reviews, and merge conflict resolution, and writing SQL queries (SELECT, JOIN) with basic CRUD operations on relational or NoSQL databases. Demonstrated knowledge of secure coding practices, including input validation, no hardcoded secrets in source code, and awareness of SQL injection risks; ability to read stack traces and logs and debug application issues systematically. Preferred Qualifications Understanding of layered application architecture (UI → API → service → database) and basic SaaS, microservices, or cloud application concepts. Familiarity with common design patterns (e.g., Repository, Factory, Strategy) and scalability concepts such as caching, stateless APIs, pagination, and horizontal vs vertical scaling. Experience using logs and metrics for troubleshooting and basic performance analysis, including understanding latency vs throughput in development or production environments. Daily use of AI or agentic development tools (e.g., Cursor, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT) for coding, debugging, refactoring, or documentation, with consistent review of AI-generated code before shipping. Experience with CI/CD pipelines, cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), authentication vs authorization, HTTPS, and secure secrets handling; collaboration skills and flexibility to work across frontend, backend, and API components in a team environment.
