A Day in the LifeThe Facilities Maintenance team supports the safe, reliable operation of manufacturing, laboratory, and office environments through maintenance of building systems and critical facility infrastructure. This team is responsible for ensuring equipment and utility systems operate efficiently to support business continuity, regulatory compliance, and daily site operations. The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing facility infrastructure and building systems. This role supports daily facility operations by performing preventive maintenance, responding to equipment issues, conducting inspections, and maintaining critical systems including heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, electrical, and life safety equipment. The position works closely with senior maintenance personnel to prioritize work and ensure facility reliability. This position is based onsite at our Brooklyn Center facility Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of facility systems including heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, electrical, life safety, and fire protection systems Operate and maintain building equipment and utility systems that support manufacturing, laboratory, and office operations Conduct routine and scheduled inspections of facility infrastructure, equipment, and building systems to identify maintenance needs and prevent unplanned downtime Diagnose equipment malfunctions and complete corrective repairs using appropriate hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and maintenance procedures Interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, specifications, layouts, and technical drawings to complete maintenance activities safely and accurately Support maintenance activities across multiple trades, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and general building repairs Document maintenance activities and equipment status in applicable maintenance management systems and records Collaborate with senior maintenance technicians and facility personnel to prioritize work, resolve issues, and support continuous facility operations Required Qualifications High School Diploma and 4+ years of facilities maintenance experience Valid Boiler License Experience performing maintenance and repair activities on facility equipment and building systems Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and equipment documentation Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), electrical, plumbing, and building systems Experience supporting wastewater treatment systems and Reverse Osmosis/Deionization (RO/DI) water systems Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS) and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) Knowledge of fire/life safety systems, air compressors, dock door repairs, and material handling equipment Experience performing general building repairs including painting, sheetrock, and concrete restoration For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required. Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$59,200.00 - $88,800.00 This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP). The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
