The PositionJob description The Principal Business Analyst possesses in-depth knowledge of the business domain, relevant technologies, and organizational strategy to provide holistic, enterprise-wide consulting advice. In this role, you will apply systems thinking to navigate the complexity of interconnected systems, overseeing initiatives with full autonomy and leading analysis efforts across highly ambiguous spaces. Acting as a trusted advisor to leadership, you will actively shape long-term roadmaps, drive consensus through persuasive communication, and recommend optimal technology solutions for sustainable business transformation. Description of the area Within RDT Pharma Technical Operations and specifically in the context of Manufacturing Technologies, this Solution Architect for Process Data ensures the seamless fit of our manufacturing business solutions into the Roche ecosystem. This is crucial for implementing and running stable, robust, and highly performing solutions while maximizing the return on investment (ROI) on our manufacturing data. The Process Data area is part of the digital backbone of our production environment, ensuring that complex scientific processes are translated into reliable, executable, and reportable digital formats. Our scope includes: Process Parameter Definition & Tracking: Ensuring the precision and integrity of data that defines our manufacturing steps. Enterprise Recipe Management: Orchestrating the "blueprints" for our medicines across different sites to ensure consistency and scalability. Data Historian Solutions: Managing the high-frequency, real-time data streams from the shop floor to enable deep analysis, troubleshooting, and continuous process improvement. Shop-Floor Data Accessibility: Streamlining the extraction and availability of raw manufacturing data to ensure it is readily accessible for higher-level systems, analytics, and operational decision-making. Job Responsibilities Scope / (Content Leadership): Oversees initiatives or streams with autonomy, coordinating complexity and scale. Defines and leads analysis efforts across highly ambiguous spaces, navigates complex frameworks, and delegates work while managing the quality of business analysis content. Accountability/Problem Solving: Leads the analysis of business problems, defining the problem space and driving comprehensive root cause analysis that may span organizational boundaries. Proactively prevents scope creep, manages the complexity of various scopes of change, and is ultimately accountable for business analysis deliverables ensuring alignment with broader organizational objectives. Stakeholder Management: Identifies and engages key stakeholders, including management, across organizational boundaries. Shapes strategy as a trusted advisor to leadership, actively navigates conflicts to achieve alignment, and empowers teams in stakeholder management. Impact/Strategy: Drives significant impact on projects and programs by ensuring the delivery of high-value solutions that align with business strategy. Leads the evaluation of strategic solution options, including advanced value analysis and risk assessment, and actively shapes long-term roadmaps. Complexity / (Product Size): Works typically on a product or product line level, effectively managing highly ambiguous and evolving requirements in dynamic environments. Demonstrates a holistic viewpoint to analyze problems, considering potential micro and macro implications across related domains. Business / Technical ability: Uses in-depth knowledge of the business or technical domain and relevant technologies to inform business strategies. Leads the application of tools, principles, and techniques across complex and cross-functional initiatives, anticipating challenges and proactively integrating analysis into broader solution design. Qualifications Education / Experience Bachelor or advanced degree Extensive experience overseeing initiatives with autonomy, coordinating complexity and scale, and driving alignment across highly ambiguous spaces. Demonstrated advanced knowledge of Business Analysis Advisory/Consultancy concepts and practices. Proven track record of recommending optimal technology solutions for sustainable business transformation and working on unusually complex problems with highly innovative solutions. 2+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or regulated healthcare technology industry. 2+ years of experience with pharmaceutical manufacturing IT solutions. Technical Skills Strong understanding of the product discovery and development lifecycle. Familiarity with GxP, FAIR data principles, and data privacy regulations (GDPR). Ability to apply systems thinking to provide holistic and enterprise-wide consulting advice. Strong capability to extend standard approaches by tailoring methods to fit the problem space, often combining methodologies to create tailored approaches. Mastery in requirements and domain knowledge, with the ability to conduct comprehensive root cause analysis and advanced value and risk assessments. Experience with Enterprise Recipe Management systems in the pharmaceutical context is a plus. Additional Qualifications Exceptional stakeholder management skills, acting as a role model in teamwork and driving good collaboration across Informatics and business structures. Strong dedication to actively contributing to organizational development, including showing leadership in the Community of Practice and acting as a mentor for senior BA practitioners. With a global team and the main stakeholders in NALA and EMEA the position requires regular availability for meetings outside of standard business hours.
