Job Description Production Manager x2 Woodchester & Miskin Up to £55,000 depending on experience Working as part of the Manufacturing Services Department you will be expected to organise and manage an Assembly department, utilising a variety of production resources. These would include Production Supervisors, Production Operators and Material Control personnel. The typical team will be between 50-70 people. The focus of the role will be to provide on-time delivery of Renishaw products within the desired quality levels and costs. The role could be a standard dayshift or a double dayshift pattern (6-2pm / 2-10pm). This will very much depend on the candidate and potential existing staff moves. Responsibilities Production Management To ensure production plans are created, implemented and adhered to each month and that the requirements are clearly communicated to all staff. This will include working closely with the relevant subsidiaries to ensure their requirements for customers are being met. Including clear communication on outstanding and future commitments. To ensure all aspects of the Quality Assurance disciplines are adhered to at all times. To investigate reports of product or process non-compliance (from both external and internal sources) in order to initiate and implement corrective actions to address root causes and prevent recurrence. To liaise with the relevant project managers and engineering teams to ensure that the quality and capability of new products and processes that are being developed can meet the requirements of the assembly process. To report on a monthly basis, the performance of the department with regard to successes and shortfalls, including progress made towards achievement of the departmental Key Result Areas (KRAs). To manage the departmental budget to ensure that costs are controlled in order to meet the overall departmental targets. To lead activities in the department to control the amount of waste being produced and for that waste to be clearly segregated for recycling purposes ensuring adherence to meeting departmental targets. Material Management To manage and maintain the SyteLine manufacturing system in line with the sales forecast and the stock policy requirements of the business. To manage the levels of inventory held by the Assembly department, ensuring policies are in place and Perpetual Inventory Count (PIC) accuracy is maintained. To manage the implementation of design changes in order to maintain product compliance whilst minimising obsolescence costs and increases in slow-moving stock. People Management To maintain sufficient staffing levels to meet department production plans. To regularly review employee’s performance (both Permanent and Fixed Term staff) with a view to maintaining individual performance in line with departmental requirements. This should always include the maintenance of staff training plans and objectives. To provide opportunities for all staff to increase their capability and knowledge of the various products in order to gain greater flexibility within the department. To continually work on improving the quality culture within the department, seeking ways to improve the process and eliminate potential quality concerns. To ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations throughout the department and undertake Risk Assessment inspections, carrying out all subsequent remedial actions necessary. Key Requirements To be qualified to HNC/Degree level in a relevant engineering discipline. And / or possess proven personnel management skills with two to three years’ experience working in a high complexity, high variety manufacturing environment. A good level of computer literacy and working knowledge of Microsoft office, particularly Word & Excel. The ability to communicate effectively at all levels. An analytical approach and attention to detail. A full driving licence, travel between Renishaw sites is required. Desirable requirements Previous planning experience would be an advantage, but full training will be given to the successful applicant. Although not essential it is highly desirable that applicants have an understanding of resource management systems (MRP/ERP) particularly “Syteline”. Although training will be provided for the successful applicant. Person specification The successful applicant will be self-motivated and capable of completing tasks on time to the highest standard. The individual will be a team player with excellent problem solving and communications skills, a positive flexible attitude and ability to work under pressure.
