This is how we aim to prevent, stop and cure diseases and ensure everyone has access to healthcare today and for generations to come. Join Roche, where every voice matters. The PositionThe Pharma Technical Operations Global MSAT and Engineering function (PTT) is undergoing a massive, multi-site modernization initiative. We lead seamless industrialization and technical management across our global landscape—owning product and process robustness, efficiency, and reliability. By integrating scalable manufacturing technologies, PTT introduces innovative, efficient, and sustainable equipment to shape Roche's manufacturing network of the future. The OpportunityAs the Technology Deployment Manager – Robotics & Automation, you identify, develop, and integrate state-of-the-art robotics into our commercial manufacturing architecture. By deploying innovations—including Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs), cobots, automated process and test equipment, and AI-driven material handling, you align technological advancements with operational excellence to ensure our network remains robust, flexible, and scalable. End-to-End Project Execution: Lead complex robotics deployment projects within GxP-regulated commercial manufacturing and logistics environments from concept through qualification. Proof-of-Concept & Pilot Scale: Drive feasibility assessments, PoC trials, and site pilot implementations to validate technical readiness and establish clear business cases before network-wide scaling. Strategy Translation: Convert global technology roadmaps for robotics, flexible automation, and mechatronic systems into site-level execution plans aligned with broader business objectives. Standards Governance: Partner with Strategy & Standards and Fleet Program Leads to establish, embed, and validate global hardware, software, safety interlock, control architecture, and cybersecurity standards. Cross-Functional Leadership: Act as the primary execution liaison connecting Pharma Technical Development, global MSAT, Site Engineering, IT/OT, Quality/Compliance, and Site Manufacturing Operations. IT/OT System Integration: Collaborate with automation and digital teams to seamlessly integrate robotic controllers, fleet management systems, and computer vision into site MES, SCADA, and ERP architectures. Vendor Lifecycle Management: Manage robotics and automation vendors end-to-end—including technical evaluation, RFP development, contract engagement, design reviews (FAT/SAT), and performance monitoring. Who You AreYou are a pragmatic innovator with deep technical know-how and hands-on expertise deploying robotics within complex GxP environments. You are driven to solve critical site operational challenges using scalable technology. Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Robotics Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Preferred: Business Administration (e.g., MBA), Change Management, or Systems Engineering certifications. 6+ years of hands-on experience in robotics integration, complex automation deployment, or manufacturing engineering within pharmaceutical, biotech, or other highly regulated industries. Direct involvement across major Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) project lifecycles, including Commissioning, Qualification, and Validation (CQV). Proven ability to influence, align, and lead multi-site project teams without direct hierarchical authority. Solid grasp of IT/OT layers (SCADA/MES) and basic data processing/coding literacy (e.g., Python, SQL) to evaluate system performance metrics, as well as hands-on experience deploying assembly and packaging automation within Device, Packaging & Distribution environments. Direct expertise with high-speed discrete robotics, collaborative robots (cobots), track-and-trace serialization, auto-injector assembly, or robotic palletizing. Ready to take the next step?
