ADVANCE YOUR CAREER. ADVANCE THE WORLD. At AMD, we believe technology has the power to solve the world’s most important challenges. From advancing healthcare and scientific discovery to powering AI and the technologies people rely on every day, innovation at AMD is shaping the future. Whether you’re designing next-gen processors, enabling AI breakthroughs, or bringing leading edge products to market, every role at AMD contributes to something bigger — technology that moves the world forward. Join us and, together, we’ll advance your career. THE ROLE: This is a Graduate Trainee program designed to launch your career in modern infrastructure engineering. As a Graduate Trainee, you will join our IT Infrastructure team and help transform how we run and deliver infrastructure across three focus areas: automating repetitive infrastructure operations, building self-service tools that let teams provision and manage resources without tickets, and prototyping practical AI solutions that make our operations smarter. THE PERSON: Over the year you will work primarily with Python, Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Ansible), and Linux, on a fleet of x86 servers. This is an ideal program for a recent graduate who codes well, is curious about infrastructure, and wants a structured path into infrastructure engineering. You will be paired with senior engineers as mentors, follow a guided learning and rotation plan, and take ownership of real projects that make a measurable impact. On successful completion, strong performers may be considered for a permanent role on the team. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Automate infrastructure operations - Write and maintain Python scripts and IaC (Ansible / Terraform) to eliminate manual, repetitive tasks such as provisioning, patching, configuration, and health checks across our Linux server fleet. Build self-service tooling - Develop internal tools, portals, and workflows that let engineers and other teams request and manage infrastructure resources on their own, reducing ticket volume and turnaround time. Prototype AI solutions - Explore and build practical applications of LLMs and AI tooling for infrastructure - for example, chat-based assistants for runbooks, automated log/incident summarization, or intelligent alert triage. Support and improve reliability - Help monitor systems, investigate issues, and contribute automation that prevents recurring problems. Collaborate with senior engineers and IT operations staff to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions Participate in code reviews, testing, and deployment processes Document solutions and contribute to internal knowledge sharing PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Solid understanding of programming fundamentals (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript, or similar) Basic understanding of web development concepts (front-end and back-end) Familiarity with scripting/automation concepts (e.g., shell scripting, task schedulers, APIs) Exposure to or strong interest in AI/ML concepts and tools (e.g., LLM APIs, chatbots) Strong problem-solving skills and eagerness to learn new technologies Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment Coursework or personal projects involving automation, DevOps, or AI/LLM integration Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) Familiarity with version control (Git) and CI/CD concepts Understanding of REST APIs and database fundamentals Exposure to Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform or Ansible. Experience building small web apps, APIs, or internal tools. Interest in or exposure to LLM / AI tooling (e.g., OpenAI/Anthropic APIs, prompt engineering, RAG, AI agents).
