Utilize Non-Destructive inspection methods (ultrasonic) to verify parts and processes are in compliance with customer engineering requirements. Establish techniques from approved general procedure or work instructions for final approval. Conduct system performance checks in accordance with applicable process standards. Provide necessary guidance and/or supervision to trainees. Perform audit surveillance on non-destructive inspection processes and initiate and document any non-conformances according to specification, process and procedures. Primary Responsibilities: Have the skills and knowledge to interpret codes, standards, and other contractual documents that control the NDT method(s). Be capable of assuming technical responsibility for the NDT facility and staff. Be capable of selecting the method and technique for a specific test. Be capable of preparing and verifying the adequacy of procedures and work instructions. Approve NDT procedures and work instructions for technical adequacy. Have a general knowledge of other NDT methods, product manufacturing and their related sequencing, and test technologies used by Airbus Kinston. Be capable of providing or directing training, examination, and certification of personnel. Conduct NDT for the acceptance of parts and document the results if a demonstration of proficiency in this ability was included in the practical examination. Be capable of auditing outside agencies to ensure the requirements of the written practice are met. Qualified Experience and Training: Education: Required 1 of 3 No education requires 4 yrs Level 2 certified experience. Successful Completion of two years of engineering or physical science study program at a technical school, college or university requires 2 yrs Level 2 certified experience. Four-year physical science or engineering undergraduate degree. Requires 1 yr Level 2 certified experience. ASNT Ultrasonic Level 3 Certification Experience: Required: Minimum two years of directly related Ultrasonic NDI experience (documented) Certification Licensure/Certifications: N/A Travel Required: 5% domestic/international travel Citizenship: Authorized Clearance: • N/A Qualified Skills: Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities: Have the skills and knowledge to interpret codes, standards, and other contractual documents that control the NDT method(s). Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): Able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts. Carrying: Weekly able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs. Lifting: Weekly able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs. Pushing / Pulling: Weekly able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools. Sitting: Daily able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer. AIRBUS Squatting / Kneeling: Weekly able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving. Standing: Daily able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor. Travel: 5% able to travel independently and at short notice. Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): Daily able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces. Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site. Administrative position only PPE required: Safety glasses on manufacturing floor, bump caps in designated areas, and safety-toed shoes in designated work areas. Heights - Able to function at heights up to 40 ft. Able to operate moving platforms, hydraulic lifts and forklifts. PPE Required: Safety glasses, bump caps and safety-toed shoes must be worn when on the manufacturing floor.
