Please note any offer of employment for this position is conditional upon the successful completion of a pre-employment medical examination, including drug and alcohol screening, conducted by a medical practitioner designated by the Company Senior Data Engineer Abbott Diabetes Care in Donegal is seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to lead data engineering initiatives that drive our manufacturing, quality, and operational excellence as we accelerate our digital transformation journey. This role is ideal for a hands‑on technical leader with strong Oracle PL/SQL expertise and modern AWS cloud experience. Your Impact Improve manufacturing performance: Enable better visibility of WIP, equipment health, yield, and quality trends through reliable data pipelines. Enhance operational decision‑making: Deliver timely, trusted data that empowers engineers, analysts, and leadership to drive process improvements. Raise engineering standards: Set best practices, uplift team capability, and build a high‑performing data culture. What You’ll Do Drive a data engineering strategy focused on delivering high‑quality, scalable data solutions. Design and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using Oracle PL/SQL and AWS data services. Manage and optimise data warehouses supporting manufacturing operations. Work closely with Operations, Quality, and IT to deliver reliable, compliant data systems. Ensure data integrity and support validated/GxP environments. Translate business needs into technical requirements and drive end‑to‑end delivery. What You Bring 10+ years of experience with Oracle, strong PL/SQL, and data warehousing. Professional experience building cloud data solutions on AWS (S3, Glue, Redshift, Lambda) and Databricks. Background in manufacturing, medical devices, semiconductor, or regulated environments. Proven ability to lead and mentor data engineering teams. Strong communication skills and stakeholder engagement. Experience with ETL design, performance tuning, and operational support. Nice to Have Experience with Kafka or event‑driven architectures. Exposure to MES/SCADA or factory data systems. Python for data engineering automation. Why Abbott in Donegal?
