SUMMARYLeading the night shift Manufacturing Engineering Department in operating with a high level of efficiency, integrity and enthusiasm, striving to achieve excellence (and avoid mediocrity) in all endeavors. Be a creative and proactive contributor on the management team, focused on continuous improvement. Providing guidance and training to less-experienced engineers and to engineering techs. Overseeing plant-wide improvement projects and ensuring best practices are shared and implemented amongst the different Workcell ME’s. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. This role must be viewed as operationally focused working closely with the Test and Quality Engineering departments in tandem with the Manufacturing Leads to drive process & test optimization, improvement and execution to plan. The Manufacturing Engineering lead shall lead and manage the night shift Manufacturing Engineers coordinating day to day activities in support of the manufacturing plan. The Manufacturing Engineering lead will work with the Machine Support Supervisor to develop the engineering skillset of the night shift Manufacturing Engineering Technicians. Monitor key metrics such as Customer Return Rate (CRR), First Pass Yield (FPY), and Scrap and provide improvement plans to keep metrics above goal. Provide input on creative ways to reduce costs by streamlining processes and systems. Provide guidance, assistance and / or training to the Manufacturing Engineers and Manufacturing Engineering Technicians. Encourage open communication and exchange of information within the M.E. department and between the various support groups. INDIVIDUAL PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT Identify training/development needs on an ongoing basis Define individual development plans for Manufacturing Engineers as required Provide 1 on 1 coaching to facilitate individual excellence Effectively prepare for and perform informal 1 to 1’s and assist in annual appraisals Review performance metrics and progress continuously TEAM PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT Drive a mindset of innovation and continuous improvement throughout the Manufacturing Engineering function Drive motivation levels within the Manufacturing Engineering Function Drive consistency of approach and performance Ensure that an effective forum for the exchange of ideas and information exists within the Manufacturing Engineering function Facilitate/Coach the Manufacturing Engineers and Machine Technicians with regards to their roles and responsibilities within the team. INTERNAL CUSTOMER MANAGEMENT Drive “internal customer focus” mindset within Engineering teams Effectively cascade functional/business information and expectations. Drive continuous improvement in areas of cost, quality and delivery Analyze and prioritize areas for manufacturing Engineering improvement e.g. machine uptime, efficiency, and quality improvements. Create a continuous improvement culture throughout the Manufacturing Engineering team Drive as a key focus both the site and global objectives MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS5-10 years prior Manufacturing/Process Engineering experience in Electronics Manufacturing including:Demonstrated knowledge of components, printed circuit boards, and chemistries used in electronics manufacturing. Demonstrated ability to design and implement processes related to relevant electronics manufacturing technology Demonstrated knowledge of IPC-610/J-STD-001 requirements Demonstrated understanding of labor capacity, quoting and efficiency. Demonstrated history of driving process improvement, innovation, and departmental excellence Ability to effectively communicate (both written and verbal) with suppliers, customers, peers, and direct-labor manufacturing personnel. Knowledge of PFMEA, Control Plans, IQ/OQ/PQ Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions Bachelor’s degree preferred. LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to effectively communicate ideas and foster positive discussion when dealing with various levels of fluency. MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. REASONING ABILITYAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Individual may be required to sit, stand or walk regularly and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs., to be accessible to production floor, attendance at meetings with indirect and direct team members, supervisors, management and customers. Individual’s primary workstation is located in the office area, with some time spent each day on the manufacturing floor. The noise level in the work environment ranges from low to moderate.
