Job Description: In order to support our growing research and industrialization roadmap, Airbus is looking for an: Manufacturing Engineer – Metallic Technologies (d/f/m) The Industrial Technology Team (OMT) drives innovation across the Airbus Commercial Industrial System — including Airbus Aerostructures, Airbus Atlantic, and the Supply Chain. As the industrial authority for Manufacturing Engineering & Industrial Technology, we ensure harmonization across the aerostructures. Your team (OMTMW) specializes in metallic technologies, notably Additive, Forming, and Welding. We collaborate within multifunctional teams alongside Design Engineering, Materials & Processes, and Supply Chain Quality to support both serial production and future aircraft development. We are seeking a specialist/expert to drive these technology axes forward. This includes specifically a new research project on welding automation and monitoring, but also opportunities to work on forming and additive technologies. Your locationYou will be working at the largest German production site for commercial aircrafts situated in Hamburg. Its location on the southern banks of the river Elbe includes the option to commute by ferry. Your tasks and responsibilitiesDrive technology innovation: Lead the development of metal industrial technologies, from proposing new applications to driving serial process improvements. Specifically, welding automation and monitoring in a German LuFo funded research project. Master industrial readiness: Conduct Process Capability Analysis and lead Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) 4–7 assessments. Lead end-to-end industrialization: Act as the industrial authority for welding, additive and forming, overseeing manufacturing trials, authorizing specifications for serial aircraft parts manufacturing or production equipment, supporting plants and guiding suppliers. Optimize product design: Collaborate with cross-functional teams on Design-to-Cost and Design-for-Manufacturing (DFM) initiatives to ensure efficiency for current and future programs. Your ProfileEducation & Experience: Master's degree in Engineering with a robust scientific basis and minimum 5 years of experience in an industrial manufacturing environment, having worked on both serial production support and new line/product development. Technical Expertise: Strong background in metallic aerospace materials and manufacturing processes: Welding (incl. automation), Additive (LB-PBF, wDED), Forming, heat treatment, NDT, surface finishing/protection; with proficiency in Process Capability Analysis and MRL assessments. Supplier Relations: Proven experience collaborating with external partners and suppliers for both serial production and (funded) research projects. Soft Skills: Leadership, autonomy, and the ability to influence cross-functional, transnational teams. Languages: Fluent in English (C2); German or French language skills are a plus.
