Work Schedule Standard (Mon-Fri) Environmental Conditions Office Job Description The Senior Engineer - Firmware will contribute to the design, development and continuous improvement of electronic systems for Scientific Instrument like Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) products and Mass Spectrometry, with a focus on delivering high-quality solutions that address customer and business needs. Also provide technical expertise and engineering support for other analytical instrument platforms, including Chromatography and Spectroscopy, as business priorities require. Key Responsibilities: Design, develop, test and maintain Firmware for scientific instrument platforms throughout new product development and sustaining engineering activities. Develop firmware for instrument control, data acquisition, motion control, communication and hardware interfaces. Design firmware architecture for embedded control systems with emphasis on reliability, maintainability and scalability. Collaborate closely with hardware engineers during board bring-up, hardware integration and system debugging. Collaborate with Software engineers during system debugging Support embedded software development for Mass Spectrometry, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Chromatography, Spectroscopy and other analytical instrument platforms. Participate in Firmware and hardware verification, validation, troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for complex system issues. Contribute to firmware development best practices, code reviews, technical documentation and continuous improvement activities. Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership in firmware development. Qualifications: Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Automation or a related discipline. Typically 8+ years of experience in firmware development, esp. Scientific Instruments and or Medical Device. Solid experience with popular MCU (ARM Cortex-M/A) programming, Strong programming skills in C, with solid knowledge of Firmware architecture and engineering principles Familiarity with communication protocols such as SPI, I²C, UART, CAN, USB and Ethernet FPGA interaction, high-speed data acquisition and instrument communication Experience using debugging tools such as JTAG, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers and software debuggers Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex system-level issues Effective communication skills within cross-functional engineering teams. Preferred Qualifications Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable: Scientific or analytical instrumentation, including Mass Spectrometry, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Chromatography or Spectroscopy. Motion control systems, motor control or precision automation. Complete NPI projects development and successfully launch to market Experience with sustaining engineering and product enhancement. Python, C# AI assisted programming Experience mentoring engineers or leading technical firmware projects
