It is a high-impact technical role for an experienced hardware, firmware, or embedded systems engineer seeking broader influence than a traditional development position. As a trusted technical advisor, the Senior FAE combines deep engineering expertise with customer engagement to help customers make architecture decisions, solve complex design challenges, and bring successful products to market. This role works closely with customers, sales, product management, and internal engineering teams to drive design wins, influence product direction, and create measurable business impact. Why This Role Is Compelling: • Broader technical influence across complete systems, architectures, technology selections, and customer design decisions. • Direct visibility to business outcomes through design wins, revenue impact, and successful customer product launches. • Exposure to a wide range of customers, applications, and industries instead of working on a single internal product for years. • Continuous learning across emerging technologies such as embedded systems, industrial networking, high-speed Ethernet, PCIe, CXL, SoCs, FPGA, security, AI edge, and connected designs. • Autonomy, trust, and ownership of strategic customer relationships, technical strategy, and territory success. • A career path that can grow toward Principal FAE, solutions architecture, technical marketing, or technical sales leadership. Key Responsibilities: • Act as a trusted technical advisor to strategic customers, influencing system architecture, technology selection, and product integration decisions. • Partner with sales teams to identify customer needs, shape technical strategy, and drive design-in and design-win opportunities. • Support customers throughout the product lifecycle, from early architecture discussions and proof of concept through production launch and post-sales support. • Conduct technical presentations, product demonstrations, and training sessions for customers and partners. • Analyze customer requirements and recommend optimal product usage, system architecture, software, firmware, interface, logic, IP integration, and implementation strategies. • Support customer discussions involving high-speed interface selection, SoC integration, IP blocks, FPGA or programmable logic development, and system-level trade-offs. • Provide customer and market feedback to engineering, product management, and R&D teams to help influence product roadmaps and future solution development. • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, escalating to engineering teams as needed. • Build trusted relationships with technical stakeholders, engineering leaders, and decision-makers at customer sites. • Stay current with emerging technologies, competitive products, industry standards, and market trends relevant to customer designs. • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior FAEs and other team members. Requirements/Qualifications: • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field. • 7+ years of relevant design or applications experience in embedded systems, hardware, software, firmware, networking, Ethernet, FPGA, security, SoCs, or related semiconductor technologies. • Solid understanding of high-speed digital technologies and interfaces such as Ethernet, PCIe, CXL, high-speed SerDes, SoC architectures, or related board- and system-level design considerations. • Ability to understand customer requirements involving processor, memory, connectivity, acceleration, and peripheral integration within complex embedded or SoC-based systems. • Strong track record of taking multiple hardware, firmware, software, or embedded systems designs from concept through production. • Experience working directly with customers, suppliers, sales teams, or cross-functional stakeholders to explain technology, solve technical problems, or influence design decisions. • Comfortable presenting technical concepts, leading architecture discussions, and translating customer requirements into practical engineering solutions. • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills. • Strong communication and presentation abilities, with experience engaging both technical and non-technical audiences. • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment. • Willingness to travel to customer sites as required. • Bilingual proficiency in English and French. Ideal Candidate Profile: • An experienced engineer who has delivered high-speed, embedded, networking, or SoC-based designs to production and wants broader ownership, customer exposure, and visible business impact. • A strong communicator who enjoys explaining technology, solving varied technical problems, and influencing design decisions across multiple customers and industries. • A technically curious engineer with interest in embedded AI, edge intelligence, acceleration, or applying advanced semiconductor technologies to real customer problems. • A self-directed professional who values autonomy, trust, continuous learning, and a path toward senior technical or customer-facing leadership roles. Preferred Skills: • Experience with product design cycles, customer architecture reviews, proof-of-concept activity, and customer design-in processes. • Familiarity with industry standards and protocols relevant to Microchip products, including Ethernet, PCIe, CXL, high-speed digital interfaces, embedded security, and SoC integration. • Experience supporting logic development, FPGA-based development, IP integration, RTL-level concepts, or semiconductor design-in activity is a strong asset. • Interest in embedded AI, edge computing, acceleration, machine learning at the edge, or AI-enabled embedded applications is considered a bonus. • Prior experience mentoring or leading technical teams Travel Time: 0% - 25% Pay Range: We offer a total compensation package that ranks among the best in the industry. It consists of competitive base pay, restricted stock units, and quarterly bonus payments. In addition to these components, our package includes health benefits that begin day one, retirement savings plans, and an industry leading IESPP program with a 6-month look back feature.
