ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY ENGINEER LIVE WHAT YOU WILL DO The Engineer will be part of the Engineering Operations and Services (EOS) department with a focus on enterprise-wide collaboration and information management to ensure environmental sustainability remains efficient, effective, and integrated into business processes. The role will also support the expansion of environmental sustainability data management and analysis to track key performance indicators The responsibilities of the role will include: - Collect, analyze, and interpret sustainability data to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement. - Analyze structured and unstructured datasets, utilize high-quality / science-based data gap fill techniques if required. - Assess supplier data to improve Amgen interests (for example, scope 3 carbon emissions and responsible partner relations). - Evaluate case studies with our carbon accounting leader to assess carbon reductions in our supply chain to help develop and deliver strategy. - Improve recordkeeping and data management from internal teams located in various business units across the enterprise. - Demonstrate collaboration, problem solving, and conflict management skills to ensure a productive work environment and achievement of objectives. - Demonstrate analytical, organizational, and project management skills. - Demonstrate ability to work independently, including the ability to manage multiple projects and initiatives. - Prepare reports, presentations, and visualizations to effectively communicate sustainability metrics and progress to stakeholders. - Remain informed of industry trends, regulations, and best practices in sustainability data management and analysis. WIN WHAT WE EXPECT OF YOU Basic Qualifications: - Master’s degree OR - Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of engineering/ scientific experience OR - Associate’s Degree and 6 years of engineering / scientific experience OR - High School Diploma / GED and 8 years of engineering / scientific experience Preferred Qualifications: - Master’s degree in Engineering, Physical, or Life Sciences - Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering - Demonstrated behaviors consistent with Amgen’s Values - Passion and interest in environmental sustainability - Strong written and oral communication skills, relationship building, and leadership skills - Program / Project Management Skills - Experience with general office software applications (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) - Experience with R, SAP, Tableau, and Python. - Proficiency in data management and analysis tools and statistical software. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and identify trends and patterns. - Knowledge of key sustainability initiatives such as the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, Science Based Targets, life cycle analysis, product carbon footprint, as well as greenhouse gas inventories and databases. - Knowledge of engineering principles (e.g. to determine attainable usage reductions / savings for various energy and water conservation measures - Experience or exposure to measurement and verification (M&V) and international measurement and verification protocols such as IPMVP - Successful completion of EIT with intention to pursue a PE license or equivalent designation - Experience and / or knowledge of industrial, laboratory, and relevant manufacturing environments and systems including but not limited to boilers, chilled water plants, refrigeration, compressed air, process heating / cooling, motors, pumps, HVAC, and lighting.
